Cabaña el ojoche

We loved the rustic feeling of the cabaña, which was airy with probably one of the most comfortable beds we had on our trip. The kitchen is simple but has everything you need to feel at home and be able to cook if you wish. There are places nearby to buy supplies if you do want to cook for yourself. And a comedor just across the road. The owners are lovely and very open to making suggestions. The garden is open and relaxing. There were kids and chickens nearby and not at all an issue for us. We walked a lot to see the lake and a nearby chocolate factory.

We loved how welcoming the owners were, the location, and the design of the cabana. Junior was so helpful and kind, and made sure we had everything we needed. He organised a taxi to transport us back to the ferry after our stay, which made our trip so much easier! The design of the cabana is amazing, you’re right in the middle of nature but still have all the comforts you need. Very close to some great restaurants as well. Highly recommend!

A wonderful stay with Junior and his family. The location is perfect, couple minutes walk to some great restaurants and close to all the best sites on the island. Junior is a fantastic host, helping us hike a bike and taking us on a tour around Maderas volcano. He's the best possible person to stay with here and really made our whole trip even better. The cabin is great with a good kitchen and bathroom inside too. Lots of fruit trees outside too! The bed is big and comfy with a huge mosquito net that's very effective. We absolutely loved our stay here

Nothing that we didn't like but two things to note: - there are many gaps in the walls so expect to be sharing with bugs! We didn't have a problem with this but beware if you're nervous around insects! The mosquito net is more than adequate to keep them away at night too. - other reviews have mentioned this too but it is quite loud due to the nature of rural life. Bring earplugs and you're fine!

While the accommodation is simple, it covers all the essentials for a comfortable stay. The highlight was definitely Junior, our host. He’s warm, speaks great English, and is an excellent guide for hiking to the volcanoes. His local knowledge and friendly personality really made the experience memorable.

Staying at Cabana el ojoche was amazing!!! Location is fantastic, host Junior is the absolute best, free mangoes from the tree right next to the house, and it is a fantastic place to stay! I stayed here for 7 days and it was an awesome break from staying in crowded hostels. Private bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. Delivery mangoes grow on the tree on the property and it is an absolutely awesome place to stay. Restaurant right across the street too which is perfect and very close to town center. The highlights of my trip included eating mangoes from the tree in the yard, hiking up Concepcion volcano guided by Junior, and swimming in the beautiful lake. Junior the host is the absolute best!!! He is a local guy who knows everything about the island and will give you all the good info and secrets. He is also a volcano tour guide which was amazing!! He brought me all kinds of amazing fruits as well which was super epic and showed how much he is willing to do to make the experience the best for the guests. I 100% recommend staying here 11/10 experience definitely will be back!!

Great spot to stay in Ometepe, perfect location with everything you need. Junior is a great host and well accommodating. He has lived on the island his whole life so is very knowledgeable of the surroundings and also a very good tour guide. Definitely book your stay at Cabana el Ojoche.
