What an amazing and unique experience was staying at the island farm house. It is a beautiful place with great panoramic views and a very nice atmosphere. The design of the shelters is very special and tasteful. Two of us stayed in the ridge of the roof built according to Sumbanese tradition, with views of the rice fields and ocean from there too. The staff were very friendly and helpful although they barely spoke English. The meals they served were wonderfully good. You have to love animals, there are several dogs, ducks (with chicks when we were there), and horses on the premises.

SUPER attentive staff. The housekeeper, jenny, made us breakfast, lunch and dinner. She even made to-go lunches that we could enjoy at the beach. Absolutely stunning views from the room and a well located house if you want to do some surfing. I loved that it allowed us to be more in touch with sumba’s cultural offering, I feel that the luxury villas are too secluded; this felt more like staying at a friends house. The house is also organised in a way that encourages you to meet other guests which is nice. The house owner, Julia, was very communicative via phone with recommendations and contact sharing (driver, surf lessons) and we met a few acquaintances of hers on the island. All the animals at the farm house make this an animal-lovers paradise.

When we got to the house the room wasn’t ready for us, there was a large mattress on the floor. Also internet connection was not great from the room. Neither of these things were a big deal
