"We felt disappointed - not a great start to our travels."

5.0

The barn is perfectly located for someone taking an early ferry from Portsmouth in the morning. It is also close to a nice village pub called the Lamb Inn. The food there was excellent and the service friendly. The shower had good pressure and the water hot.

We feel It does not resemble the online pictures. When we arrived, it was not clear where to collect the keys. The facility was deserted. I rang the host and told the keys were in the door. The host had made up some futons and provided a cot for our baby. Unfortunately, the cot was clearly broken and ostensibly not useable. Why offer a cot if you cannot provide a safe one? I rang the host and wasadvised to "sometimes start again?" This was not on the list of my priorities for a short stop over, after a long car journey and with four children to look after. I was also told by the owner "sorry still working" via SMS. This made me feel like an inconvenience rather than a valued customer! Tea and coffee were offered (some tea bags and a Nescafe gold jar) but there was no milk in the fridge. We found a used sponge under one of the chairs. The hand wash/soap are from a budget supermarket. The furniture within the room is well used. It is different to the online photos. We had poor weather during our stay and I slipped on the wooden steps leading up to the property. We left early in the morning and it was still dark. There is no light on the side of the barn (there is on the front of the property) and I tripped over a large stone object that is placed near the base of the stairs and hurt my ankle. This is dangerous. There are two large stone objects placed in front of the property. There is a table tennis table in one of the parking bays. We were not happy to leave the children playing with the tennis table unsupervised because there are other pieces of equipment within the parking bays. The online pictures show the parking bays to be empty and also do not have the two large stones on the drive. The parking bays are therefore not useable. We were woken up at midnight by a large party of people arriving in a taxi to enter the large home next to the property. The taxi (a van) beeped its horn and the people were talking loudly on the drive.
