Apartment in Old tbilisi

The location is good

The apartment is good but the lights are too dim.

Great location, close to a renovated part of the old town and a short-ish walk to the main tourist strip and Freedom Square. The apartment seems to be fairly recently renovated and is a good size. Bed was comfortable enough, but I could sometimes feel the mattress springs. Apartment seemed to be clean throughout, including the bathroom. Usually nice and quiet, especially at night, but the people upstairs (or their children) seemed to sometimes be running up and down (quite audibly) until about 10 pm - but it wasn't a huge issue. Bathroom was quite small but functional, hot water was never a problem. I didn't use the kitchen to cook any meals, but it also seemed functional (note though, there is no microwave oven). Apartment was reasonably light/bright, despite natural light into the main coming coming from an internal window into the kitchen. Communication with the owner before check-in was good, and the cleaning lady was there to let me in. She spoke no English, but we muddled through fine. Wifi worked well in the apartment.

The booking.com listing stated the apartment had air conditioning, which was very important to me because I know from past experience how hot Tbilisi can get. However, after check-in it quickly became apparent there was no air conditioning (or heating), so I contacted the owner to ask about this. He confirmed there was no air conditioning, and offered to provide a fan. Despite accepting that offer, no fan was forthcoming. I followed up that night, and the owner said he would deliver a fan the next morning. The next morning I followed up again, but received no answer and no fan was ever forthcoming. The property description on booking.com still falsely refers to the apartment having air conditioning. The separate bathroom on the verandah was a bit of a pain, because one needs to lock and unlock two doors every time one wants to go to the bathroom - but it wasn't a big problem. While the list of positives outweighs the negatives, I regretably can't give a better rating given the feeling I came away with.

The host is friendly and easy to communicate (I’m foreigner traveller), the apartment is nice and comfortable. Location is great, and I will choose to stay again if I visit Tbilisi again.
