"Great budget b&b option with easy ferry access to the historic area"

10.0

The host was exceedingly generous and helpful. She left us a basket of food for breakfast that was well beyond what we would have expected. When we sent her a note about not being able to turn on the oven, she came right over to help (it was just one of those pesky wall switches--Americans are not familiar with those). The place was well furnished and quite comfy. We appreciated the location within a few blocks of the William Shipyard, which has been converted to a restaurant/night club/residential/commercial-office area. From the shipyard, we could catch a ferry to the historic part of Plymouth, a scenic cruise passing the Plymouth Hoe and landing in the Barbican area, which was quite interesting historically, much more so than we expected.

If you are want to be immersed in a vibrant tourist area, this is not the place for you. This is a residential area with almost no pubs or no supermarkets nearby (the one pub appeared to be full of Marine guys). It is very quiet. There are nice restaurants at the shipyard complex, though. Still, we wound up being glad we stayed here and not close to the historic center of Plymouth, because we saved a lot of money and had convenient ferry service to the historic area. Also, the owner needs to work on the directions for car drivers; we got close but then had to just park and walk to find the house and especially the parking area behind the house. There is a confusing maze of one-way streets, and finding the crooked alley behind the house where you have to park, was a challenge. Trust me, a description that to the owner might seem overly detailed, is not nearly detailed enough for a driver unfamiliar with the area, esp. if they are arriving at dusk when street signs and house numbers are hard to read while moving and being tailgated.

"Very enjoyable."

10.0

The property was very well presented inside. The provision of the bread, milk etc. was very much appreciated. The bed was comfortable and plenty of parking space, though narrow access. The location was close to the sites that we visited.

"Would happily stay here again."

9.0

A fabulous first floor flat in a quiet residential street. 5 minute walk to historic Royal William Yard offering good choice of restaurants. Easy transport link (by local bus or ferry from RWYard) to city centre. 30 minute walk to Plymouth Hoe and Barbican. Private (off street) parking to rear of property.

Please note this is NOT a complaint - it is just something to be aware of. Access to the flat and parking space is at the rear of the property via a cobbled passageway which some guests with larger (estate) sized cars may find tricky to negotiate.

"Fabulous flat in wonderful location."

10.0

The flat is gorgeously decorated, although very small it doesn't seem at all cramped due to the high ceilings. Wonderful location near Royal Williams yard so you can catch a ferry to the Barbican, wonderfully exotic. Lovely touches such as fresh bread, milk and flowers

Shower is teeny but that is too be expected in such a small flat, and it works well
