Casa Mar Adentro

Ein unglaublich schöner Ausblick und ein Garten mit vielen Blumen und essbaren Dingen. Ein besonderes Architektenhaus.

Wir waren etwas irritiert von den 3 Kameras, die im Haus installiert sind. Eine davon auch im Wohnzimmer mit Einblickn in die obere Galerie, in der auch ein Schlafbereich ist. Wir wussten vorher nichts davon und wurden auch nicht darüber informiert. Man sollte auch wissen, dass das Haus etwas hellhörig ist. Das heißt die Privatsphäre ist dadurch nicht unbedingt gegeben.

Freddie, the owner and architect of the villa met us with the keys and gave us a brief history of the property and the island. He also gave us a Madeira cake and a bottle of wine on our arrival. The Villa is situated on a clifftop/edge of the hill in the best location overlooking the small town. The property is spacious and an absolute delight to chill out and only a 5 minute walk away down the hill into town - fabulous.

The road leading to the villa is seriously steep and a little scary in a hire car when you're not used to a left hand drive car.

La casa è in una posizione fantastica, sopra la baia di uno dei borghi più belli dell'isola. In origine era una casa di pescatori ma è stata trasformata in una casa dal design contemporaneo, luminosa e con grandi spazi. Mi è piaciuto molto l'atmosfera vera e non come quella di molte case in affitto, belle a vedersi ma fredde e impersonali. Qui l'atmosfera era completamente diversa. Per non parlare degli accessori.

Forse poco adatta a che non ama salire in auto su strade strettissime e in forte pendenza. Ma il percorso è veramente breve e in quattro giorni non abbiamo mai incontrato nessuno che veniva dall'altra parte

The location of the house above the bay is superb and provides great views. The house itself is very spacious and Freddy has created imaginative use of space. The house is light an airy, with a well provisioned kitchen on the ground floor, large lounge, bedrooms, dressing/ walk through wardrobe and twin shower rooms. The third bedroom on the mezzanine really uses the space up to the ceiling and provides wonderful view across the lounge and through the windows to the bay. There is a good sized garden to the front, which has sheltered areas for eating, as well as loungers. Being so elevated gives you a true panoramic view of the village and bay.

The only thing to note is the road to the top part of the village is quite steep and narrow. You get used to it quickly but be prepared to toot the horn as you approach the bends.

The location is lovely in terms of walking proximity to town and the view of the harbor.

The A/C makes an awful noise. It was really tough to sleep with an erratic thump noise every five-eight seconds. Also, the A/c is only on the top floor (the loft) of three, so only one bed ends up cold enough. The other rooms get very stuffy unless you leave the doors open. So, it’s not really suitable for multiple non related couples to stay there. Also, the road up is one lane and windy. You need great backing up skills in case someone is going the other way. There is a designated parking area for your house; however, we were constantly blocked in by neighbors’ cars. Even after reporting that and the host talking to the neighbors, it kept happening. We either couldn’t park in our spot or couldn’t leave when we needed to. That is very frustrating and uncomfortable while on vaca.

There were so many things to like about. We’ve seen the pictures. But in person was totally different feels. Freddie was so welcoming and his architect design of the house is superb and nicely executed.

Is really your preference what like and not to like. I found the house is pretty amazing. Maybe little more lighting in the bathroom. But really didn’t bother me.
