Onur Inn

We were actually a bit hesitant to book after reading the most recent review. However, because we had an early morning flight and this place is conveniently close to the airport, we decided to give it a chance — and we’re really glad we did. Onur is a very attentive and caring host. After receiving the previous feedback, he had already fixed the issue mentioned, which gave us extra confidence. We wanted to write this review especially for anyone who might have doubts like we did. Onur is clearly very experienced in tourism. He recommended a restaurant where we had a wonderful dinner, and the next day we stayed in and enjoyed the place and its atmosphere.

Pokój, łazienka i kuchnia brudne. Bardzo zakurzony wiatrak i cała łazienka. W łazience jednego pokoju wyjatkowo śmierdziało z odpływu. Brak szafek w kuchni - naczynia na wolnym powietrzu co jest mało higieniczne, brak miejsca na umieszczenie produktów spożywczych (zarówno w kuchni jak I pokoju). Cena zdecydowanie za wysoka w stosunku do standardu. Obiekt dobry tylko dla rodzin/grup wspólnie wynajmujących oba pokoje.

Honestly, nothing worth mentioning. The stay had no positive aspects.

Our 5-day stay was extremely disappointing. There was a very loud and constant noise from a power generator located on the neighboring lot, running day and night, making it impossible to rest or sleep. This issue was not mentioned at the time of booking. Room cleaning was basically non-existent: during the entire stay, the room was never cleaned and towels were never changed. We were provided with only one roll of toilet paper for the whole 5 days, which is completely unacceptable. The bathroom was dirty and smelled bad, showing clear hygiene issues. Overall, cleanliness was very poor and far below acceptable hospitality standards.

Onur inn is located in the small village Villa Libertad with walking distance to the fantastic Lio Beach with many restaurants and bars and ElNido airport. You have a spacious room with toilet/shower and efficient air-condition. There is an outdoor kitchen we used every day. After beach the outdoor shower is perfect to rinse away sand. To stay here is the closest you can get to be a part of the local village life. Means you have working neighbours, dogs, cats, chickens, geckos and the sound of generators when the electricity cuts off (max 5 times during our 30 days). We liked our long stay and would be happy to come back. Onur is a great host, if there is a problem he is there within some minutes.

It’s in a local city part, but with quiet neighbors. Bed and watch room are great for the 6 days we rent. Opened kitchen can be helpful for some dinners. Chickens are welcome in the garden.

I count myself lucky to have stepped off the beaten path and chosen to stay here rather than in the thick of things. Getting around by scooter or tuktuk is easy, quick and cost effective and made the cost to comfort ratio of Onur Inn even more apparent . It was lovely being able to come back to a quiet, cool, wifi'ed, green private space after a day island hopping, dining out or dancing. Onur was supremely helpful and reactive for everything. Tuktuk driver Kimber lives just a few doors up and will drop you off and pick you up whenever you want at the standard rates. Onur also helps with the rental of scooters which can be delivered straight to you and you can walk to fancy pants Lio beach in about 15 minutes. Shops and a few very cheap and tasty local restaurants are a couple of minutes up the road. We often cooked in the outdoor kitchen, had meals at the big table, played cards, drank wine and comfortably wound down from days out at Corong corong, el Nido, Las Cabanas etc. It was nice not being forced to always eat out or return to the restrictions of a hotel room in the middle of a noisy holiday town. If your approach to getaways is autonomous, about feeling like you are at home and you don't mind signs of life from the community around you, then this is a lovely find. The "sounds of building" next door are just a workshop where they work wood or whatever at a pretty small scale and to be honest, I barely noticed. The ruckus in the more touristy towns was far more industrial and constant. Clean, cute, convenient, cost effective, reassuring. I reckon its far better than a cheap/mid level hotel gamble.

Other reviews have mentioned the bathroom. It did get pretty musty as the intended quaint design has unfortunately backfired. But Onur is aware and was planning on redoing the shower with a classic tile and drain right after we checked out. That was the only issue to flag, if that has been dealt with I can't recommend his place enough.
