Plum Ridge House

Beautiful, serene location with a nicely maintained home. A great way to explore Skopelos with a group of friends or a family.

Location is a little further from town, but the view and the grounds are worth the trip up the mountain.

The location is perfect if you want to be alone, away from the city and other accommodations. The house is basically in the middle of the island on top of a hill, surrounded by forest, the views are fantastic everywhere you turn your head, the nature is stunning. To get to the house, you will need to have your own car or rent one. Renting Jimmy was the best option for us. The nearest road to accommodation from the city is mostly steep and narrow. I would say it is not recommended for large cars or cars with low ground clearance. Especially the last 50 m to the accommodation where you have a steep dirt road with potholes and sharp turns. Other roads on the island are very good. In addition to the road that leads directly from the main city, there are two other roads that take you to the other side of the island and all the popular beaches. The house is beautiful inside and out, full of little things that make life easier, the kitchen has practically everything you will ever need (except for the oven), the living room has a nice TV and DVD player with tons of movies on CDs. The dining room has a cabinet full of board games. The bedroom and the bathroom that are above the living room are new and very nice.

I don't know when the driveway was last mowed, but when we arrived the yard was full of tall and thin weed that could have been mowed. Also, there was a lot of residue from previous mowing that had dried and made the car very slippery going uphill. There is a drastic difference between the two bedrooms and the bathroom, the older part of the house needs to be renovated to be comparable to the new one. In the old part of the house the bathroom on the first floor is small, much older with no windows that can be opened and poorly lit. The bathtub is impractical and with no curtains. The bedroom above the kitchen looks nice at first glance, but it is old and not practical. No real bed, more of a storage space with a mattress on top, air conditioner is old but works, no proper mosquito net, everything creaked. One night the wind was blowing hard and it was impossible to sleep. Incomparable with the second bedroom and bathroom. Enjoying or eating outside the house on one of the terraces was not possible due to large amount of wasps on the island. Our biggest complaint would be the cleanliness of the house, it was full of dust and cobwebs. Those who are allergic to dust and mites, and some of us are, will find it difficult to breathe and sleep. And yes, forget about privacy. There is no proper door to divide the two bedrooms.
