"It’s a trap - please avoid at all costs"

1.0

The Chef

Management - 1. He does not help my mother onto back of vehicle. My mother does not want to go on back because she gets motion sickness. 2. At check in; He adds all extra costs on arrival. The price I booked for doubles. He wants cash not visa. Physically dips his hand my wallet and grabs all my money, leaving me with 1 dinar. Mum with nothing. 3. There is no information given about your stay especially drinking water. Where and how to get. 4. Chef who I like at dinner asks for 1 dinar per drink. All I’ve got is 1 dinar. Can’t even tip the poor guy. Mum had one bottle too I find 50 cents in Mums purse ask if it’s okay. It is. 5. Apparently tea is free, but no one points out where it is. 6. These bubbles get super hot in the sun. Air conditioning can not cool enough. I get dehydrated, and in morning I also die dry retching. I drink water from tap in bathroom. 7. Breakfast is last night’s leftovers, I’m not well (oncoming heat exhaustion later in day) and I’m craving watermelon to rehydrate but there is none. 8. We paid in all our extras for jeep tour. We paid extra for lunch. Lunch is actually included in jeep tour at Bedouin camp. I can’t eat anyway - because I’m vomiting anything I eat/drink now. But they have souvenirs and we have no cash. Can’t even tip them for meal, tea, etc. can’t even tip driver. Who takes us/drops us off at 1916 train reenactment. 9. But the final straw. The be all and end all - is check out: management sits me down, takes phone out of my hand and asks to do review. I say no, management do not do their own reviews, customers review. I realise at this moment I have booked this place on the good reviews. Unfortunately it is far from good. I get my phone back. I sit and do review. We discuss. Mum does not like management intimidating me. And in the end I leave without actually reviewing on the spot. 10. Until management changes - please avoid

"An overall con. Do not book."

1.0

No idea and was taken to a different one without our knowledge.

This property was a con overall. First about 30 minutes before we arrived we were sent a message on WhatsApp stating that parking is free but the pick up and drop off from the car park was 40JOD unless we do a desert tour with them. When we arrived at the meeting point we were guided though a dirt/sand road to a parking location. After we left we realised this was a trick to make us think we were more remote and loose our bearing as we were parked further down the same main road we met the manager. We were taken to another location (Nael Bedouin) without internet or network access, we were told we did not book the room we had to upgrade to get the one we wanted. We were then told to cancel the booking.com booking infront of the manager and only then was given WiFi access to do so. The AC at the room was not working, I reported it multiple times through the stay only to be told later that they switch it off to save electricity, the rooms were in excess of 40c at times. We had booked a desert tour and were told that it’s a private tour. The afternoon one was, but the night one turned out to start of with us being private but then we ended up with another family with screaming children. The breakfast was poor in the morning and they managed to damage one of our bags handles loading it into the car to drop us back at our car. Overall we feel conned as we never stayed at the location we were expecting, and we had no choice but to agree with them as no cell service in the area and no internet so we were very vulnerable and fully dependent on them as we were in the middle of the desert with no way out.

I liked the hospitality in the camp, tour all around wadi rum, dinner & Breakfast.

WIFI not available to Glamping Rooms. its available at Reception area only. There is no refrigerator & Kettle for make tea or hot/cool water. May it because of deserts; cant work power well for kettle & refrigerators using Solar Energy.

"What stay should one choose?"

9.0

The host are incredible hospitable. They really went out of their way to provide us with a good experience. Ali was very helpful in managing our requests. The general concept is if you book your activities like desert tour, night under the stars, sand boarding etc with the place you are staying at you will save a fair deal.

It seems like most places in Wadi either offer a bubble/dome or Bedwin tent. So in that sense they are all similar, given the price they charge, having basic amenities in the room like coffee, tea and water is certainly a miss. Things like bathroom mat can also be added. All in all was a comfortable stay. All bubble tents had the smell of plastic. Can be off putting but tolerable.
