Excellent hotel in a quiet location. Could not fault Brown House in any way.

Our third stay, at the Brown house, a lively quiet hotel in Udon Thani, lovely staff, comfortable room and pet friendly, always stay here on our monthly shopping trip to Udon.

The staff was nice and kind.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this hotel was one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve had in Thailand. The hotel advertises itself as pet-friendly, but in reality it feels like dogs are barely tolerated here. There is an excessive number of strict rules regarding pets, along with a long list of penalties and fines. The most shocking part was the pet fee: 500 THB per night for one dog, while the room itself costs only around 800 THB per night. This is completely unreasonable. What makes it even worse is that this fee was never disclosed in advance. I specifically contacted the hotel before my stay and informed them that I would be traveling with my dog, yet nobody mentioned any additional charge. During years of traveling around Thailand and staying in dozens of hotels, from budget accommodations to luxury resorts, I have never encountered such an expensive pet fee. When hotels do charge extra, they always inform guests beforehand, and the fee is usually around 100–200 THB. The overall approach to pets also left a very negative impression. Rather than feeling genuinely welcoming to pet owners, it felt as though pets are accepted primarily as an additional source of revenue. Between the unusually high pet fee, the numerous restrictions, and the extensive list of penalties, there was little sense that animals are actually welcomed here. As someone who regularly travels with a dog and has stayed in many pet-friendly hotels, I have learned that truly pet-friendly properties are usually run by people who understand the realities of traveling with pets and make reasonable efforts to accommodate them. Unfortunately, that was not the feeling I got here. The room itself was also in very poor condition. Everything felt old and neglected. There was mold in the shower, mold around the sink, and visible dirt throughout the room. The curtains were extremely dusty, stained, and damaged. Even the walls were dirty, scratched, and marked.
