We had a wonderful week at Dar Rita. I loved the ambience and architecture of the traditional Tunisian Dar. It was lovely to be in a family home, but with plenty of privacy and personal space. Everything was very clean and we felt very safe and secure the whole time. Eric and Amira are the kindest and most genuine people that you could meet. Both did everything that they could to ensure that we had a great holiday. We were shown many interesting places and the best places to eat, shop, and exchange money. Eric was happy to give us lifts to the beach and to the airport and to facilitate everything we wanted to do. We had two amazing day trips with him - one to southern Tunisia to see where Star Wars was filmed and to visit ancient Berber villages, and the other a tour of the island of Djerba. Eric is intelligent, witty, and good fun. Also a knowledgeable and considerate guide, and a good driver. Breakfasts made by Amira were very tasty - lots of variety of sweet and savoury dishes some of which were familar but also Tunisian dishes we hadn't tried before. Amira cooked us two delicious dinners ensuring that we had the opportunity to try many different local specialities. One evening we had a fabulous dinner at the nearby associated establishment L'Autre Dar. This is a restaurant year-round and has bed and breakfast rooms in high summer, again with lovely ambience and architecture. Thank you very much Eric and Amira.

I’ve stayed in a lot of properties in a lot of countries, but the hospitality at Dar Rita is among the best I’ve ever experienced. Éric & Amira go to great lengths to ensure their guests feel happy, comfortable and welcome. When I arrived in Djerba, it was the festival of Eid al-Adha, which meant businesses were closed and it was difficult to find places to eat and drink. Éric & Amira very kindly invited myself and other guests to join them at their family restaurant, where we got to try loads of delicious traditional Tunisian food. Éric is also happy to arrange excursions, so on one day myself and my fellow guests (who I am sure will leave their own review) went with Éric to Tataouine, and another day around Djerba. While you’re at Dar Rita, you’ll be welcomed like a member of the family.

Very mixed bag, but ultimately decent product for the price. EXTREMELY kind hostess, whose expert-at-English teenage son was esp. helpful. Location okay (not in Djerbahood) but see notes re: what I didn't like.

There is neither signage or even an address sign, so locating this place was very difficult. Room was spartan and dark, as was bathroom, but both clean and serviceable. Very uncomfortable mattress - they need new ones, at least in the room I stayed in (one of two).

So much to like! The hospitality extended by Amira and Eric was exceptional. It was a pleasure to stay at Dar Rita, one I hope to enjoy again soon. Thank you!

This is truly the most friendly and welcoming place that I have ever stayed in. Nothing is too much trouble for Erica and Amira. We experienced the real Djerba, with fantastic traditional food, shown the best places to shop and guided tours around parts of the island.

That we were only here for 3 nights. We didn't realise it was Ramadan. I read in other reviews that the pool was heated, which it wasn't. But this was not claimed in Dar Rita's facilities.

Eric and Amira, the hosts, will go out of their way to make your stay great. The breakfast was immense and delicious. Amira even made us some tunesian snacks to try and Eric took some time to show us the city and gave us many useful hints and tricks which made out last day of our holiday perfect. We highly recommend this place if you look for a second home far from home and hope to come back someday.
