Hostel Punta Ballena Bar

Hostel Punta Bellena & Bar is a quiet, comfortable, and pleasant place to visit if you plan to stay in Punta Bellena. Punta Bellena has several places to visit if you choose to stay there instead of staying in the more crowded city of Punta Del Este which is around 12 km away and is easily accessible by bus. The accommodation has comfortable beds; an excellent and reasonably-priced restaurant; helpful staff; and is centrally located to most of the sites in Punta Bellena and to the local bus line, Micro Ltda. The hostel is 1.5 km from the Mirador, (Overlook), on Route 10, which has great sunset views. I was fortunate to be visiting Hostel Punta Bellena & Bar over the weekend when the owner, Martin, was celebrating his birthday and he generously extended an invitation to invite me to join in the festivities - sharing some of the asado his friends cooked for him at the fire pit at the entrance to the hostel, and to have drinks with his friends. Most of the vegetables for the food cooked in the wood- fired oven, are grown in the backyard of the hostel. Breakfast is included if you stay overnight. The bread served at breakfast is home made. I recommended visiting Hostel Punta Bellena & Bar - at least to enjoy the great food.

No kitchen for guests to prepare a meal is available. However, a cooler is available to store anything that needs to be kept cold. Beds of guests who stayed in the men's dorm were not always stripped and re-made for new guests.

Everything is made out of wood. It's a quiet place. The bathroom was amazing!

The owner gave me a strange vibe - that kind of who's not happy to have a non-spanish speaking customer. When he addressed me he treated me like a child so that I told him to treat me nicely as I am learning HIS only language. Inside the room was only a table and the beds. No locker, nothing to hang up clothes... When I asked for one glass of wine they said they only sell bottles. For a single traveler it's a pity.

Quiet place in a nice setting. Good, warm showers and nice breakfast. Close enough to Casapueblo & the beach.

Breakfast included toast with dulce de leche, milk, honey. Was delicious. You can make a campfire!

Management a little bit cold. Lots of mosquitoes. Have to cross a busy highway every time to get to beach/city.

Highly recomend Hostel Punta Ballena Bar, it is comfortable, clean, great people, amazing atmosphere in the place. You really feel like at home. Don't miss it out if you are planning to visit Punta Ballena. You can also eat there, the food they make is a dream:)
