Management go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and at home. Authentic Japanese, owned and managed lodge. Tasteful and nutritious breakfasts well catered to differing preferences each morning.

Great space! Lovely owner Akira who was incredibly helpful. The staff were so friendly and the private onsen is the perfect way to end a day on the slopes. Really recommend to all - look no further. Really hope to be back.

For Dad's and my first visit to Japan, Hakuba was our favourite location and a big part of this can be attributed to our accommodation host Akira and the rest of his lodge staff - especially Yona. The location is obviously beautiful and we had amazing snow during our stay. After reading other people's reviews of Third Place Lodge we were sold and the hospitality of this place exceeded our expectations by far. No ask was too much, Akira went above and beyond to ensure that all of our needs were met and that we had all information necessary and recommendations for restaurants, ski resorts, equipment hire and transportation in the area. Immediately on arrival we were given a tour of Hakuba from Akira who went out of his way to pick us up from the train station, drove us to the slopes on several occasions during our stay, and also dropped us off on departure and ensured we had the correct train tickets before leaving. Every morning we were offered a cooked breakfast which was made to order, access to a private onsen at the end of the day (just what the dr ordered after a long day out on the slopes), and were within walking distance to lots of local restaurants and bars. Yona even called ahead one of the evenings to make sure there was space when we hadn't made a reservation to save a walk in the cold. We could not recommend Third Place Lodge more highly and enthusiastically to other travellers. We felt welcome right from the beginning and were so sad to go, we would have loved spending more time here and will definitely be back. All the staff were incredibly helpful and so nice. Had nice chats with all of them and they helped answer any and all questions that I had.
