"Wow! A very special place"

Wow!! What a special place. Came across the cottage while looking for a hotel in this area and so pleased we did. What a treat. Stunning house in a beautiful location. Fabulous hosts who left us everything we could need, including some treats. Thank you

"Beautiful cottage for a cosy getaway"

9.0

Beautiful house and setting. Well equipped inside and exactly what you want from a cottage get away.

Road immediately outside was quite busy with cars travelling quickly. Manageable but just keep beware with younger kids and dogs. Local pub opening hours were very restricted (midweek) and no food available, this meant an unplanned trip to the supermarket. Neither of these are are problem with the house itself however.

Second time I've stayed here and love it. The log burner is perfect and the kitchen equipped with everything you need.

The beds aren't very comfy. The shower curtain configuration is a little strange if you want a bath. A bench outside the front door would be nice even on cold days you could then sit outside with a cuppa.

"Fantastic stay, loved every minute, great place to stay, defiantly recommend"

8.0

Excellent Location, lovely walk altho pouring with rain, pub close. Comfy beds and well equipped kitchen, lounge was cosy especially with log burner, plenty of room and even a Christmas Tree. Four of us stayed and it was perfect. thank you

The bath/shower wasn't ideal as bath was deep and difficult to get in and out, would benefit from a walk in shower. couldn't find a hairdryer! Could really use an extractor fan as kept setting smoke alarm off!

The warm, welcoming atmosphere. The festive Christmas lights set the tone for a fun family getaway. Everything you can think of to cater for a large family meal. Cosy and comfortable!

The hot and cold tap in the bath was confusing as the colours were mixed up for the first user, who then alerted the rest of us, so it was not an issue.

"It was the perfect warm and cosy place to meet half way and catch up with friends."

It’s such a warm and cosy place. Loved sitting round the open fire, the large kitchen table for meals and the piece and quiet of the area.

Nothing.

The cottage was perfect! We had a warm welcome with heating, lights on, and a welcome pack, including fresh local eggs when we arrived. Correspondence with the owner was excellent. It had everything you needed home from home. It was spacious for our family of 4 with 2 adult children and felt very cosy in a great location. We wish we could have stayed longer!

"Pretty with room for improvement"

5.0

The cottage is very pretty. The beds were clean. The kitchen is fully equipped. The cottage is warm. The locals are very friendly including the staff in the pub across the road who kindly gave us some tea bags as none were provided. Nightly rate is reasonable.

Access is via the back door. Getting to this with an elderly relative and another who is blind while bringing luggage etc in, in the dark (check in at 4pm) and rain was a challenge. It's not clear why the back door was used as the front door works, I saw it open earlier in the day. The building itself is not suitable for anyone with even low level mobility issues. stairs are difficult to navigate with only a rope bannister most of the way up. The bath is very high, again not user friendly for anyone who is less agile, a walk in shower would be more practical. The shower within the bath is surrounded by a not overly attractive shower curtain which takes away from any aesthetic reason for the choice of bath. The bathroom floor is covered by a mishmash of mats, not sure how hygienic this is. Towels are not provided as part of the booking. it would have been good if a hand towel was provided for the bathroom, perhaps the cost of a hand towel could be added to the nightly rental as I guess they aren't provided in case of theft? There was a welcome basket that consisted of 6 local eggs, a pack of individual portion cereals that one usually buys for children, a pack of individual apple pies, 4 crumpets and a pint of milk. while this is very kind, we would have rather had some tea and coffee with the milk and that would have been sufficient. The location is probably ideal if you enjoy long walks but is not at all close to Stockbridge, it is around 15 minutes drive. There is nothing other than a very basic pub across the road and apparently a shop somewhere in the village. The property is not pristine clean but I can see how cleaning this style of property would be a challenge however the carpet in the living room had not been vacuumed behind some of the furniture. spotlights in the kitchen were a little greasy and dusty. could use somewhere to recycle glass.
