Delightful 3bed thatched Cottage

Location was good

we arrived at the property on Friday 19-04-2024 and entered the property around 16:00. I was aware when I booked the property that it was an old property and the expectations, I had were aligned with this. However, the property was rather dusty and could have done with a clean, certainly around ornaments, blinds, and the cobwebs in the corners of rooms. There were also numerous flies / bugs alive within the bedrooms on the walls, and it appears they had been there previously as it was clear they had been squashed whilst on the walls and the remains were quite clear to see. The stairs within the property are very steep and the landing at the top of the stairs is uneven and slope toward the top of the stairs. As I had travelled with my grandmother who is 86 and my daughter who is 3, I must admit this created some concern for us over our stay. However, we accepted this and ensured we introduced safeguards were in place to limit the risk between my wife, mother, father, and myself. The serious incident I wish to raise was on the morning of Sunday 21/04/2024 at approx. 09:20 my family and I were sitting in the lounge area, just finished breakfast, and getting ready to leave the property for our 10:00 departure. My mother, wife and daughter went upstairs, my father and Grandmother were in the lounge, and I was in the kitchen cleaning through before we left. At approx. 09:30 there was a very loud bang followed by screams from my grandmother and shouts for help from my father. As I entered the lounge there was dust, and debris everywhere, my grandmother screaming in sheer panic and my father distressed in relation to what had happened. The majority of the ceiling had collapsed into the lounge area resulting in over a 1-inch-thick slab of plaster, Sand / cement falling, smashing off the table and my father and grandmother which in turn broke the slab up into numerous pieces.

Space and enclosed garden. It's an old property and full of quirky features. Welcome pack and helpful owner

Everything is good. Only thing is if you're elderly or have mobility issues it may not be suitable due to age of property.

Watch your head! There are some low beams upstairs

My wife grew up in the area and it was lovely. Such an awesome house with 3 teenagers - just watch your head :)

No soap for the shower otherwise perfect

Beautiful warm thatched cottage with secure enclosed gardens for our dogs. Comfortable beds. Lovely welcome pack containing eggs, milk, apple pie & breakfast cereals.

Would be nice to have been able to read up on the property if you have any information on its history.
