Vila São Gonçalo

The house was phenomenal and my stay here was the hilight of my whole trip. One of the hosts greeted me warmly and gave me a tour of the place as well as all the information needed like bus stops etc. The house was absolutely beautiful- every window had a gorgeous view of the ocean and the city of Funchal. It was equipped with everything you could possibly need from various kitchen utensils, a hairdryer, and even mosquito repellent. The balcony off the bedroom and the terrace on the roof was a highlight for me, I spent my mornings with a coffee watching the sunrise and my evenings with a glass of wine watching the sunset. The area surrounding is quiet and safe with a lovely cafe a short walk away. It was an easy 20 minute walk downhill to the city center, but too steep for me going up- but a Bolt back never cost me more than €5. I truly loved every minute I spent in this place and am so grateful to the hosts for letting me enjoy their place that is clearly cherished by their family.

Location, view and easy parking

Shower needs to be fixed. We been there with 4 years old kid and during his shower water was changing from hot to cold. It was really annoying but also dangerous. It was nightmare to use the shower.

The villa had character and was in such a gorgeous location with the most beautiful view over the city, we couldn't believe we had the entire place to ourselves! A full functioning kitchen and washer meant we cook cook and wash our clothes before jetting home. Just a short bus ride down to the city, we found it so easy to get to and from the centre of Funchal. Out of all the places we stayed in Madeira, this was for sure our favourite!

Make sure you stock up on your mosquito repellent! No fault of the villa but I didn't experience mosquitos this bad in any other place on the island!

La vue de La terrasse et du balcon était fantastique. L’appartement était spacieux. Un stationnement sur place . De magnifiques plantes tropicales ornaient la cour intérieure . A noter qu’il faut obligatoirement se déplacer en autobus.

On aurait apprécié avoir des fauteuils dans l’appartement.
