Barn Owl Cottage

My family and I absolutely loved our stay at Barn Owl Cottage. It was a true breath of fresh air—peaceful, scenic, and the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The property is beautifully maintained, with charming touches that made us feel right at home. Waking up to the sounds of nature and enjoying the tranquil surroundings was exactly what we needed to recharge. The cottage itself was cozy and well-equipped, ideal for a relaxing family getaway. We especially appreciated the thoughtful details and the warm hospitality. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into making guests feel welcome. We would definitely go back again—this place is a gem!

The host was great, we had a very rainy night so the massive fireplace was amazing for braaing and for warming up the place at the same time. The cottage was so cozy and our kids enjoyed the loft area.

The cottage is solar powered which was great but when we ran out of power due to bad weather we didnt think to inform the host but if this happens just call him as he will come and charge the battery up with a generator.

We were looking for a real farm cottage and that’s what we got. Extremely friendly, accommodating and welcoming hosts. Beautiful little cottage which thought of everything- including a fly swatter which came in very handy. Our little dog also loved the freedom of his big garden. And of course the massive indoor fire place was exactly what we were looking for and it did not disappoint. I loved that whenever I needed something, it had been thought of and was there. There’s also a few little shops near by for anything you forgot to bring.

We loved absolutely everything! Our doggies had the time of their lives and enjoyed running around and exploring the fully fenced garden! It was comforting to know that they were safe when we wanted to go out. It was convenient to be so close to Stilbaai, but we loved getting back to the peace and quiet of the farm and the beautiful cottage! Thank you Rita and Nico for your friendliness and hospitality! We will definitely be back!
