There is so much to love about this property! It's a really nice home away from home, the beachside pool and location are perfect. The beds are comfortable. Local staff are very nice, they helped us book tuktuks and find the correct train timings. The cooked breakfast was a nice option, lots of amazing fresh fruit. We had a really nice time in Hikkaduwa, and would overall recommend the Blue Peacock as a rental.

The following isn't necessarily negative, but I do want to write an honest review. Interactions with the property owners were weird. After booking was confirmed (bank deposit, no refunds), they sent a 2100 word document with rules for the property (which includes a lecture on power consumption in Sri Lanka and instructions on how to use a bean bag chair). From the beginning, it felt like they didn't want us there. We also felt closely monitored by locals (not a huge problem, they are VERY nice), but the number of times we would be by the pool and staff would pop up just to check on us was annoying. A WhatsApp messaged would have sufficed 90% of the time. A higher fence should be installed next to the pool as the neighbour decided every time we (group of women) were poolside was a great time to trim his hedges. This is all to say that it's a REALLY nice house, but it wasn't as private as expected and we felt a little like unwanted guests. Still a 9/10!
