"a perfect stay in an idyllic part of the country"

9.0

The cottage was spacious and yet cozy. All the rooms were a decent size, particularly the bedrooms, which also had adequate storage and hanging space. Beds were large and comfortable. The kitchen was easy to work in, well equipped, and there was a great collection of stuff, mainly herbs and spices, left by previous guests. The bathroom was also a decent size, although the shower is a bit basic and requires getting the balance of hot and cold water right. The cottage is in a narrow lane, but parking isn't too difficult if you follow Shane's instructions. Frosterley is a neat little village with a Co-op and a pub, perfectly adequate for a few days. The locals are friendly, and there are walks into the moors from the front door. As Frosterley is at the entrance of Weardale and has easy access to Teesdale and Tynedale, there are literally hundreds of great walks within half an hour's drive. Plenty of communication from the hosts (more than enough!) and when we couldn't work out how to use the oven, we got a swift reply. We would definitely return to the cottage if we come back to the North Pennines.

As noted in the property listing, there's no garden
