Antic Cottage for Family

Nothing to like about this place.

It would have been nice after a long drive to have been able to stay at the property, but I arrived at 9pm and there was no room for me, absolutely appalling.

I didn't have the chance to see the property, despite the accommodation being confirmed and my payment debited the hosts told me on the day the property had been given to someone else. The hosts say they told bookings.com but bookings.com say they didn't. Weekend ruined

I didn't like paying for accommodation that was not available. Now waiting for a refund which appears down to me to message the hosts about. Doesn't feel fair to me so will now have to complain to get my money back. Bookings.com take the money and leave you high and dry

Nothing, we never got to stay there as the owner said that the booking was not valid and that they were not renting out the property.

There was not cups or nothing to use in the kitchen area, it stayed it a family cottage but there was no tv, also states there is a sofa bed when in fact there is not! There was water seeping through the lounge area floor. I would not recommend this!

The best feature at the property were the two fire places. One in the downstairs bedroom and the other in the dining room. The carpet on the stairs was fairly new.

Non of the facilities advertised were available. The cupboards were bare and the bathroom had no toiletries or towels. Toilet rolls were in abundance. The cleanliness was atrocious and not at all up to standards of health and safety. There were a lot of people occupying the building on the first and second floor. We took a kettle from the communal kitchen on the first floor because we were waiting so long for one to be brought to us which never arrived. They brought cutlery and plates in the early evening (6pm approx) after we had been in the building from 14:30pm. We asked for towels and received more toilet rolls instead. They also turned up with cleaning products but did no cleaning I think he thought that looking at it would suffice. The bedding was a disgrace in terms of cleanliness and we resorted to sleeping atop the covers. There were no signs of fire safety anywhere and the fire looked as though it had previously caught fire. The room upstairs had cigarette ash on the floor of the bathroom and a white staining on a pillow on the bed. The shower did not work at all, it was useless and unclean. There was still evidence of a previous lodger in the room as well. When we arrived we had the wrong PIN code and couldn’t gain access to the key. We knocked on the door and resulted to letting ourselves in to then have to ask for the correct pin. The language barrier was manageable but the three way conversation did not help. There was one bed and no sofa bed, only two ordinary chairs. Hence the upstairs bedroom. There were three of us! It was a rip off and not to standards even for a 1* grading. There had clearly been other people using the space as they had left belongings in there. There was a projector screen up in the fire place area and a scooter under the sink. There was rubbish in the garden front and back so I was surprised that there were no rodents anywhere. Please do not stay here.

Arrived at the property to discover it was locked, and after searching through emails i noticed a piddly attempt at reaching me to ask me to cancel my booking as 'property was undergoing renovation :)'. Not good enough. No further attempts were made to let me know this was the case (you have my number) and to put the onus on me to cancel, when it was your mistake is disgusting. I am a bipolar woman and had travelled 4 hours to come stay in Nottingham on a bank holiday weekend. As a result I had to scramble to find alternative accomodation, which also left me out of pocket. There has been no attempt to cancel and rectify this issue. I have asked for a refund and have had no further information as to whether thats in the works, no apology, and no care. Extremely disappointing that the host cared more about their personal rating with booking.com than actually providing a good customer experience. Shameful.

The kitchen area is nice

This is not a cottage. This is two separate rooms in a shared house, the rooms are separated by a staircase in which people were coming up and down.They were very noisy. We had to wait an hour for our keys despite letting the host know what time we were arriving. Place is unclean, stained and not proper bedding on the bed. Left after a short look around the place. Felt very much like a hostel.
