GBNo worse than expected for a budget hotel - room was clean and large, bed was comfy and shower was nice and hot (maybe too hot, but great for a short while). The bar/bistro downstairs has an interesting menu and staff were all really helpful. I did like the little secret passage into the bar, on a cold rainy evening it's brilliant to have everything on site, and the plantain katsu was very nice.
TV didn't seem to work at all and internet was dubious. It was confusing finding the place, I'm very grateful to a previous review which explained that the name "River side rooms" doesn't appear anywhere and it's in fact called the Bitterne Park Hotel. You have to park in front of a bar called Mbuntu, or risk residents/timed parking along the street, and then wander around until you find a way in. There was a mobile number taped to a desk which I called to check in. Any people I did find were lovely and helpful though, and the bar looked like it would be great once everything was working properly (none of the draught options were available). It's definitely more road side than river side but have stayed in worse!

GBReally comfortable bed, clean and good value.
The lights didn’t work!!! I had to use the light from the bathroom and my phone. No heating - the radiator wasn’t on and the portable heater was broken. No Wi-Fi details available.

GBLovely soft bed
It needs a new sign , as it is impossible to find without going in the pub first .
