"Unique and cultural experience near Livingstone"

10.0

Very nice and unique place with friendly people. They make you feel very welcome and like a part of the local community. Alex is a great host who loves to tell about the history and future projects in the village. He also helped us a lot as throughout our stay. I will definitely recommend this place

Experiencing the village life was a bonus. In our room i didn't expect running water as i thought they still struggle with water. We did self catering. Dinner time we ate together with the host family traditional food. We had a lovely stay. The guest house is next to main road so you wont get lost.

I initially thought that I only needed electricity and hot water. Based on positive reviews,I made a reservation. However, upon arrival at the terminal, I discovered a pickup fee of 250 local money. Considering the round-trip cost, I recommend city accommodations. After arriving, I found it cold with no hot water, no internet, and no power outlets, so I couldn't charge any devices. I felt like I had slept on the street. In the morning, they provided lukewarm water, but I had to wash my hair with muddy water. The host picked me up from the terminal to the accommodation. On the way, drunken locals blocked our car, which was frightening. Additionally, the room had no power outlets, so I had to charge my devices briefly in the kitchen in the morning but forgot to retrieve them. Despite contacting them all day, they didn't respond. Pick up or drop was 200 to 250 ( 10USD) money. But they asked me 300 local initially, and then they demanded 600 local money ( 30USD) return my charger and power bank to the city.· This whole experience was exhausting, frustrating, and terrible. I lost my charger and power bank, valued at around 50 USD , and spent 20 USD on taxi fares. The accommodation was making my holiday the worst ever.

"Authentic stay in a Zambian village"

10.0

What a great stay. We unfortunately only had two nights here, but were immediately impressed by the warmth and hospitality of the Muke Village residents. Alex was an incredibly friendly, kind and ambitious host who gave us an insight into Zambian life. There is a school next to the guest house and we were even allowed to attend lessons and spend time with the children. We will definitely return - probably even as volunteers - as we felt very comfortable and gained an authentic insight into Zambian culture.

"The most authentic experience of my african journey!!!"

10.0

I arrived in Muke village looking for a quiet place to stay far away from the touristic Livingstone town. I didn't expect to find there the best experience of my trip in Africa. I was the third guest since the house is new and they just started to host people in this authentic village house made with wood and clay. The bed are very comfortable, the bathroom and shower are clean and functional. It was so nice to sleep in this peaceful village near the Zambezi river that I decided to extend my stay to one week and I had many reasons to do so! This is not just a guest house, this is part of a project started 4 years ago by Alex when he decided to build a school in Muke Village. I met him when I arrived and he explained me how all the profits of the guest house go to the school, the teachers and the kids. The decision to build a school was made because the nearest school was 5 km away and the kids had to cover a busy dangerous road and sometimes even face the elephants that crowd the surroundings of the village. Starting with 10 kids now the school has 75 students and needs every year more support. I decided then to help as I could doing some volunteering and I extended my stay! So I really recommend to anyone who pass by Livingstone to spend some time in this place because for me it was the most authentic experience of my trip in Africa and I met very nice people in this place who work everyday to give a better future to the children of the village. Thanks to Alex and his family for hosting me!

"Awesome experience in a traditional village guesthouse."

10.0

The accommodation is a traditional village clay and thatch guest house. The beds are very comfortable with mosquito nets and it was nice to have an ensuite shower room. The village is very friendly and safe and has a small but well stocked shop. A Village tour including volunteering in the village school, Nshima cooking lesson and a Zambezi sunset canoe rides can be booked directly with Alex (I highly recommend these). It’s nice to know the money raised is going to support the village school. We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely return. Thank you to Alex, his family and friends for making us feel so welcome.

We loved everything about our stay.

"Go see the real Africa at Muke Village!"

10.0

I am so happy, I chose to come here! I was the first of hopefully many guests. Alex is a fantastic host, who really cares about his guests and projects. If you want to see some real Africa, apart from the tourism route of Vic Falls/Livingstone, you should come. And your not only getting a good deal for a stay, you also support the school, Alex has founded. You can join clases, see how the teachers work, take a village tour or canu-ride in the sunset. The beds are nice and comfy, the bathrooms are clean and work fantastic. The kitchen has everything you need to cook. Otherwise, this is a place to relax from travelling. There is a huge camping area, if you come by care. I am a German solo female backpacker, I travelled a lot and I'd like to support this place, it meets all the requirements for a great hostel! Alex also takes care of the entire transport, all you have to do, is reach out. Have a great time there! Thank you, Alex, for hosting me, I loved it.

That I can't come back in some time. But I hope, I will someday, to see all the progress with the school, the guest house and the village.
