Captain's Cove Lakehouse

The house was great! Easy to find, plenty of room to spread out, kitchen was well stocked, lots of information (somewhat conflicting at times like check out time), and the homeowners were very nice!! House was super comfortable, lots of cool games in the basement and a great outdoor space with a fire pit. So nice!! Loved the house! Owners were very responsive.

Before I even arrived, booking.com reached out to me because the cleaning fee was left off. I’m not sure if they ever did charge me for it, (I went way above and beyond in cleaning in case they didn’t) but I hope they didn’t charge me for it. When we first arrived we found that 2 of the beds, including the main king, were very firm memory foam mattresses. None of us were able to sleep in the main room because the bed was just too hard for us. No one’s fault, just classic.. The most frustrating thing about the trip was, although I suspected I would not have cell service, I knew that I would have Wi-Fi so work and other people could get ahold of us. We did not have service, but one of us had one bar. The issue was that not even 24 hours in, the Internet went out and stayed out the whole trip. So our first night of 3 1/2 days was the only time we had Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, you have to have Wi-Fi to run the TVs and the DVD player didn’t work in the living room and so unfortunately, everyone was gamed out. Losing Wi-Fi changed things.. not to mention very irritated kids (and adults) and I was concerned about not being reachable by work. However, we changed our plans and I ran to the store everyday, as that’s the only place I had real service. Then, on our 2nd day there, we lost power starting at 9:30 in the morning roughly, and that lasted until 1 or so. It was only 3-4 hours but I spent that time worried sick bc it took us 2 1/2 hours to cook breakfast on the grill and I was concerned that we were going to lose the $300 in groceries or we were just going to have to pack up and leave. No one’s fault.. just classic. I’m so grateful for the trip, but it was a stressful vacation. :)
