Das Home Stay liegt in einem wudnerschönen, tropischen Garten, daneben ein neues Fitnessstudio. Es ist eine ruhige Gegend, die gleichzeitig nur 10 Minuten vom Strand und Restaurants entfernt ist. Sehr leckeres Frühstück, sehr divers, kontinental oder einheimisch.

The owner and family are so welcoming and lovely. There is everything you need in the room including small kitchen facilities. And get offered a breakfast of your choice. Excellent location and close to the beach. We had such a great stay here. Would love to come back in the future.

The location is excellent, situated in a quiet area. The breakfast is hearty and delicious.

Adding curtains would greatly enhance the room’s ambiance. While the Wi-Fi is usually good, it can be unstable at times. A cleaner bathroom would also improve the overall experience.

From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with open arms by Bimba, the wonderful owner of this homestay. Starting my Sri Lanka journey here was a blessing, and after staying in other places, I appreciate even more how special this experience was. The location is perfect—just a short walk to all the popular cafés such as cactus, restaurants, ATMs, Ayurvedic shops, Kai co-working, and, of course, the beach. Yet, it’s tucked away on a quiet street, offering peaceful nights where the only sounds are those of nature—a rare find in Ahangama! No need to hire a tuk-tuk; everything is within walking distance. The room itself is well-equipped, including a kitchen with a decent-sized fridge, dishes, cookware, and a burner to prepare meals. But if you get the chance, I highly recommend taking up Bimba’s offer for breakfast—she is an amazing cook, and her food was even better than most nearby restaurants! Other thoughtful touches make the stay even more comfortable: a cozy bed for a great night’s sleep, an outdoor seating area with a table and chairs, a drying rack, and a bucket for washing clothes. One of the kindest gestures was when Bimba repaired my skirt after it ripped during my travels. As a master tailor, she even offers custom clothing if you bring fabric! Bimba’s warmth and hospitality made this homestay truly feel like home. If I return to Ahangama, I would absolutely stay here again.

Lack of hot water

I stayed with Bimba at Rasara Homestay for three weeks and immediately felt at home. Her kindness, along with that of the other women, made me feel safe and well cared for. At the time, I had a broken foot and was in a cast, and Bimba went out of her way to help me with shopping and other tasks that were difficult for me to manage on my own. The room was clean and tidy, and she ensured it was cleaned whenever needed. I wholeheartedly recommend anyone traveling to Ahangama to stay with Bimba. Staying there feels like gaining a family. For me, Bimba and the others became my Sri Lankan family, and they will always hold a special place in my heart. I also highly recommend taking advantage of their incredible tailoring skills. Bring your own fabric and share your design ideas—they’ll create something truly magical! Staying with Bimba and the others is an experience I can’t recommend enough.
