"I’m sorry to say that it did not meet our expectations."

4.0

Location by the canal.

The opaque ‘window’ at the end of the cabin means you only get to see the view from the small slit windows whilst standing. Likewise there was no view from the out door seating area. The bar stools meant you were eating food at chest level. The bathroom slide door was very difficult to slide & actually only gave visual privacy. It would be useful to give instructions on locking the metal door which required a firm upward movement of the handle whilst simultaneously turning the key. There were several proud nails on the floor boards.

The location was stunning. The unique style of this cabin is beautiful with amazing scenery. Access was simple and peacefully remote. The surrounding history, nature and wildlife is like something out of a film, just amazing..

Didn't look like it had been cleaned from the previous occupants. Bins half full, bin bag outside and although it's an eco toilet, that too had other mess in it and the laundry basket full. . For such a beautiful place it kinda let it down a bit sadly.

"Wonderful secluded spot, perfect for paddle boarding along the canal."

9.0

Monocoque is such a delightful place, super unique, right on the canal near the prettiest historical listed Tyrley lock. The cabin is on its own in a field with woodpeckers and combine harvester for company. The host was wonderful at communicating check in details and offered us recommendations for places to visit. The cabin is cosy and well equipped, even has a shower which wasn’t mentioned on the particulars. I would definitely recommend launching a paddle board on the canal and travel upstream to the very popular Wharf Tavern. The Hawkstone Park Follies are a super insight into Victoriana opulence. Market Drayton is very faded these days, there a definitely prettier market towns. The Saturday market is only open once a month and wasn’t on the weekend we stayed so I cannot vouch for that.

The cabin is set in such a beautiful place and we were fortunate enough to be there when the weather was delightful. The sunset over the canal was a glorious welcome! One of the biggest sadnesses is that you cannot enjoy the surrounding from the cabin as the main structure is occluded polycarbonate and the patio is on the wrong side for the view of the canal. The outside of the cabin has also suffered from a lot of algae over the winter which could do with a polish! The shower was cold in the morning. You need to remember to switch on the hot water!
