Porterfield Guest House, Champagne Valley

The location is the best. It is in a very quiet place, the house is very big and clean with the veranda that is also spacious.The views are out of this world and the activities at the establishment are a plus.Would definitely go back

1.It is a self catering house but being given one toilet paper for a three nights stay is a minus.At least inform your guests on time to bring extra toilet papers for the duration of the stay 2.We ran out of the fireplace wood on the 3rd night.I informed the owners and we got no wood and no apology on a freaking cold night in Drakensberg .On your instructions it is written that complimentary wood for a braai stand will be provided and after you have to buy your own _ so I thought wood for fire place was a separate issue. 3.The room upstairs did not work for us 2 adults sleeping in that open space this time of the year was a no no.The room has no privacy and the two adults would bump on the roof while going in or out of the room.A room is good for kids but doesn't for adults. 4.The shower next to the dinning room did not work properly,one can either have cold or hot water, but could mix both to have warm water.So two adults from the room upstairs had to take a bath in the bedrooms downstairs which was uncomfortable because it was 2 males using and sharing the bathrooms with females.

No electricity back up for power failures, although there is a fireplace and wood available the house was cold The speed hump on the strip road before entering the property was too high and scrapped both our cars, even when driving over at an angle. The one geyser was not on the first night so we had to share a bathroom

A stunning private homestead with a lot of open space, ideal for families with young or older kids, with everything needed for a wonderful self catering stay. Having the herd of impala right outside the gate was also something quite special to behold. Pippa was such a gracious host.

It was an absolutely stunning venue, everything was immaculate and so well put together, I would definitely recommend staying here, it's the most scenic place in the berg
