Marriott East Lansing at University Place

Good location

The bathroom wasn't very clean, apparently the previous guest shaved or something and there were still some tiny hairs in the sink. We wanted to sleep together in one bed (either queen or king) and they couldn't accommodate our needs and we were sent to a bedroom with 2 separate beds. Lighting of the room was very bad.

Reeked of chemicals and spray paint. No free breakfast, no free wifi

Never asked about wifi upon check in. Maybe because of the line but customer in front and behind were. No refrigerator or microwave in room and the air conditioning was extremely loud

there were some problems with the elevators, and there weren’t enough hooks or places to hang towels in the bathroom. I’m not sure if there were any.

The staff were very friendly. The hotel and my room were very clean. The comfort of the bed was wonderful!! We were close to the pool and I never heard any noises in my room.

The elevator was broken for part of the stay with no signs saying it was out of order. My main complaint was the 13.00/day parking and 12/day WiFi fees that were not disclosed when booking. I would just raise the cost of stay for parking and offer free WiFi like every other hotel I have ever stayed at does.

We took communicating rooms: a Double Queen beds and a King bed. Nice rooms, good beds. Great location for the Hotel, right in the heart of the city. I liked the gym facilities: more than adequate compared to others. The bar is very charming, boasting a modern, open aesthetic, and the restaurant (along with the room service) is efficient and comprehensive, albeit slightly expensive. The staff is highly professional, very kind, and responds promptly. Housekeeping was great. Overall, a really great experience.

A couple of minor issues - if you're sensitive to the noise from air conditioning, be aware that when it kicks in, it sounds like an airplane passing by. Also, noise in the corridors can sometimes be bothersome, but this is fairly common with most hotels.
