The Milking Parlour at Berthllwyd

Craig was absolutely lovely, approachable, and ready to assist in anyway, he even welcomed us with Welsh cakes and a jug of milk, ready for a cuppa after our long journey down (all basic essentials were provided like tea, coffee and sugar)! Craig also reassured us that he was only a phone call away if he wasn't at his main residence (also on site). If we saw him on site, he'd ask if all was OK and if there was anything we needed. Craig had left information regarding the area and building, which was very useful. It also provided takeaway menus if we decided not to cook at the property. Although it's 15 minutes from Caerphilly and 25 from Cardiff, we appreciated the fact it was slightly away from the hustle and bustle, which allowed us to thoroughly relax and enjoy our weekend. However, if you have a car, you can easily pop to anywhere as the A470 is close by!! The relaxing atmosphere and scenic views were idyllic and tranquil! The dog friendly site was ideal for taking the dogs for a walk and appreciating the fresh Welsh countryside; we also admired the other types of accommodation available at the farm, and have started thinking about booking next year! The facilities and accommodation suited our needs and we felt at home during our stay! Cannot fault the host or accommodation!

There wasn't anything we didn't like!

It was a lovely stay. The property was clean, there was everything you need for cooking - a fridge, a stove, an oven. Everything was recently renovated. On our arrival we got local homemade cookies and the milk from farm. Thank you, Craig, for your hospitality.

Everything was perfect

A great spot at the top of a hill away from the village in a converted barn. So clean and comfortable with everything we needed. Other accommodation block next door and camping on site as well but was not a problem. Really helpful and friendly host. Loved it.

Everything was fab! Host was really helpful when we got lost and easy to communicate with when needed. Loved that there was tea, coffee, sugar, milk along with Welsh cakes when we arrived. Cottage was clean and tidy with everything we could need including a handy book with things to do with local activities, numbers and information. Would definitely come back and recommend to others.

The property had been converted very tastefully ; no expense spared . It had a really cosy feel . Tea, coffee ; condiments towels tea towels etc were all provided. The bed was very comfortable ; surprisingly also a good tv package available. A nice touch waiting for us was a jug of fresh milk and Welsh cakes. I property was easy to find with stunning views over the Rhonda valley .

Location, Location, Location! This Property is part of a larger Farm called Swallow Barn Farm, the 2 properties for rent are called The Milking Parlour and the Nook and Cranny, they are joined, but 2 separate rentals from a 600 year old barn conversion that has had many uses over the centuries, including a cow shed, a chapel, and now Guest houses. It's so quiet up there on the hill, we could walk our dogs off the lead from the property around several fields belonging to the farm. Parking is ample. You can even wash your bike using hosts jetwash area, Host Craig also rides and guides mtb and motorbikes.

We have the most amazing stay in this Cottage. Very high recommend. Very clean and cosy place. Excellent hospitality. We are looking forward to go back again. Great location to explore of beautiful Wales. With Love :) Luben, Maria, Poli & Daria
