The Little Retreat, Pembrokeshire

This place has the potential to be lovely but there are some really big teething issues we came across (and for the price point is hard to look past them) The beds were comfy, the kitchen is well appointed and the gardens being secluded were fab for families.

When we arrived we didn’t know what to do/where to go. When booking through booking.com you don’t get the welcome email you usually get if you book directly through them (price difference however is quite significant). This meant we hung around at check in with no clue what to do for around 25 minutes (luckily was sunny so could just play football with our little boy in sunshine)… Also meant we didn’t get useful info like wifi code (was another thing we had to request) and some of the facilities were either broken or not up to standard (we did have a few dirt issues - photos below) Also, the hot tubs are a REAL faff and they charge a lot for logs and for set up if you are staying longer than 1 night. (Photo below showing prices) - note if you want it set up you need to purchase more logs if you don’t have many…. We also had someone flying a drone over us on the first night invading our privacy. In a secluded area I would not expect that. Wasn’t the owners but there needs to be something on that (as the drone literally stayed over us for a good 30 mins…) Also to note: there is no oil in kitchen, no shower gel, no additional loo rolls, one towel each (same towel for hot tub and shower)… Overall has the potential to be a wonderful stay as location and set up is cute but currently for £200 PN, they are asking a lot! Very disappointing unfortunately. The owners were good at actioning the issues after we raised but it didn’t change the fact our first night wasn’t pleasant out of 2. Once sorted they didn’t recheck on us or offer any compensation. Head in the sand approach which is a shame.

Clean, everything you need, such a beautiful location and the hosts were always on hand for any questions. Highly recommend!!

A beautiful little place, ideal location, lovely and quiet for a relaxing little break with our dog! Exceptionally clean and all the facilities you need and more! Owners were so lovely and so helpful when we struggled to get our hot tub going, Adrian came to help in less than 5 mins! We will be booking again as soon as we can 😊

I booked this for my dogs birthday! So was after something to suit us both. Found this place and it was perfect! The bed was very comfortable! The dome was extremely spacious! The enclosed space was ideal to leave the dog run round. The log burner and heater kept it nice and cosy! The hot tub was a lovely treat and glad the weather held off for us to use it. We'd love to come back in the better months to have more use of the garden and bbq/fire pit.

There was the smallest gap in the fence to next door which Ralph somehow managed to find within 5 minutes of us arriving. He paid the neighbours a visit (woops) Only suggestion is maybe a mop and brush to clean up after ourselves.

The location was good, free parking, good WiFi, private space, dog friendly, lots of space in the pod, small, but well equipped kitchen. The host was friendly and provided information. Enjoyed the hot tub, just need to put plenty wood in the chamber to get going.

The old church bells were silent only between midnight and 6am including Sunday. The clay pigeon shooting, which went in the evening about 6pm. There wasn't mop to mop the floor as the weather was drizzly in December 2024, when we stayed. Also, there wasn't no toilet brush, so unnecessary use of water.
