Duplex Apartment Harbourside city centre

Nice location opposite the harbour. The decor was interesting and nice.

The early check out time as a hotel would give you longer to vacate. Also as a woman the mirror was too high in bathroom unless you are over 5ft 8 so you can see what you are doing. The shower with no hose attachment fitted is also difficult for us women who do not want to get their hair wet while showering! The door keypad wouldn't work for the other family member on this short trip so could be an issue for others too.

Location was convenient for us. About 10-15mins walk to the centre along the bustling harbour. Apartment was nicely designed, either newly refurbished or very well maintained. Modern art displayed around it including banksy wallpaper up the stairs was cool. View from balcony shown in photos - looking out and looking back in. Free parking was very handy, although didn’t feel very secure overnight but was fine. Owner kindly allowed us to use the space on our final day after we checked out so we could continue to explore the city. Owner was quick to respond to messages and check everything was ok with our stay. Left some complimentary food items which was very kind.

One of the bedrooms had a fair bit of traffic noise which kept going through the night. However the other bedroom was absolutely silent. The soundproofing was very good through the whole apartment so really did successfully muffle it very well, but just to be aware in case this is a problem for you. It would have been helpful to have more information about parking, incl. a map or photo to be able to find it, and having this earlier, rather than receiving message an hour ish before check-in. If you are driving then suggest asking for this.

The master bedroom is on the busy main road side.

The owner messaged me 2 days before our stay demanding a direct bank transfer of £100 to his bank account (not via booking.com) and said if we don’t pay it then we can’t stay and should find alternative accommodation. He did not understand why we were uncomfortable with this request, and following a very long winded, and drawn out argument, where he was extremely rude, he then persisted to not cancel the booking, leaving us wondering whether he would actually allow us into the property if we turned up without sending him £100 bank transfer. We didn’t want to cancel the booking because the terms were that it was non refundable, and he openly said that he would not refund us the booking amount. Completely untrustworthy and extremely poor behaviour towards customers, leaving us in a vulnerable position. I don’t recommend.

Great location, very nice apartment, better to pay for the car park across the road as the on street parking is only available to pay for from 10-4 and free at night but during the commuting times it is a tow away zone.

I prefer an actual key, the code key locks require a phone to remember the code.
