Ella Fresh Point Homestay

It’s a family business and they are very friendly and helpful! So good people, they even helped us to get train tickets! The breakfast was very delicious and some of the best breakfast so far!

La guesthouse destaca principalmente por el trato inmejorable de la familia que la gestiona. Son muy amables y siempre están dispuestos a ayudar en todo lo que necesitas, lo que hace que la estancia sea muy agradable. El desayuno está buenísimo, con opciones deliciosas y caseras que te preparan con mucho cariño. Sin duda, un lugar para recomendar por su calidez humana y excelente atención.

This homestay is a single self contained unit between the family house and their small local restaurant on the street. The breakfast was good, and we did have a decent shower with (very) hot water. The busy owner tries his best to help. The location was excellent, walking distance to the tourist street, near many of the hikes and several great restaurants, and yet quiet.

The man who primarily looks after this homestay is very busy, mostly running a busy restaurant. He also does not speak english very well so communication was a challenge. We arrived on a big holiday so it was extra busy. The main issue was with the room, it was very damp all the time. The sheets were damp/wet (so much so we had to sleep on top of the blanket. The room is carpeted which also holds the moisture. We wound up having to leave a day early due to the damp/muskiness. The owner was very kind to refund us for the last day. Since there is no AC or any kind of dehumidifier I cant see how this will get any better, Ella is a damp place, and where the room is gets very little sunshine even on bright days.

The toilet had no water and would not flush. The WiFi cut out at about 7.30pm and would not turn on until we had to ask the host the next morning (he wouldn’t respond to messages). The location is ideal for 9 arch bridge and little Adam’s peak. The breakfast is plentiful, (generous fruit platter, hoppers, two rotis, dal, samba and coffee). They tried to over charge us which led to an awkward conversation upon departure but was sorted when we corrected them. They also overcharged us for a 1l bottle of water, (200 LKR when it’s meant to be about 160).

The breakfast was amazing and plentiful. The location was ideal for us, as it was just outside the busy area, but still with plenty of restaurants and eateries to choose from. Plus very good for the 9 arches walk.

The room was a good size, and overall clean. However it did smell dusty and musty. Plus the mosquito net was full of dust and desperate for a wash.

This is definitely one of the best villas in Sri Lanka, very clean, the location is as convenient as possible, and the breakfasts? I'm not afraid to say that they were also the best. Every day the breakfasts were completely different, and it was very tasty. We also ordered dinner once, which we also liked. The owner helped with our further route and took us to the stop for free. In addition to all this, he made a very nice gift - a magnet with our photo. We were as surprised as possible by such good service in Sri Lanka. Therefore, I recommend it!
