Mount Rinjani Guest House

Sam the host & his wife were lovely,, Sam is very knowledgeable about the area & Mt Rinjani & is also such a character & speaks great English, lots of laughs, & great company so I stayed extra night, food was also great, Beautiful view from this place & great lil town nearby. Would thoroughly recommend staying here & I'll be back one day soon with my partner to climb Mt Rinjani, thanks for all your knowledgeable info Sam & fun memories, also great that there was no set checkout time,

Quiet at night, no mosque around, close to the path to Rinjani. The little cats around.

When we arrived, it seemed like the owner wasn't expecting us; he didn't know which room to assign us. The room wasn't at all like the photos shown here (maybe they're too old?): there's mold, water leaks, and crumbling walls. The mattress was incredibly noisy and soft. There's no sink in the bathroom. The pancake we had for breakfast was half raw.

The atmosphere here is unique, all thanks to the wonderful efforts of Sam and Tina. They are some of the most outgoing and friendly people we've met in all of Lombok. They are keen for the guests to come out of their rooms and engage with one another - by doing so, we've met some truly great people and shared an adventure on Pergasingan Hill (side note - great place to go if you didn't manage to get a permit for Mt Rinjani). Sam speaks very good English and is happy to help you with a whole bunch of stuff. He's also a guide himself and can give you solid info on Mt Rinjani and even help organise treks. Tina is a wonderful host and a great cook :) Also- there's hot water in the showers!! Not to mention that you will be sleeping under the feet of magnificent Mt Rinjani - the views are insane. This place truly is a gateway to the volcano.

A note for improvement (which is already in the works) - more readily available scooter rental would be helpful. There's not many options in Sembalun and Sam did help us get one but just to make it easier for visitors getting around.

Very nice and quiet location

Staff was friendly and always nearby. Rooms were clean and bed was comfortable.

Probably a rare occurrence but the water ran out one day. Despite being far from the main road, it can still be noisy at night. The walls are thin so you will hear others as well as animals.

Sam is a really great host & gide, he is very helpfull, he helps with everything

Off grid but close to town if you have a scooter, Friendly host, newer renovated but could use a couple fixes and some hot water for the shower.
