Baan Glangsuan Bang Kobua

The hotel is lovely with spacious clean rooms, traditional Thai furnishings, strong a/c, patio with garden/creek view. The grounds were lush gardens/jungle with charming arts/crafts workshops and kayaking on a canal, available daily. Bikes, e-bikes, and motorcycles were available for rent from the property. The hotel was pretty well situated in terms of access to Bang Kachao restaurants, markets, attractions, and the Bang Kachao Port, where you can take a ferry or long tail boat across to Wat Khlong Toei Nok Pier. Where it was easy to get taxi/grab into Bangkok proper. The locals told me and they paid 10 THB each way but as a foreigner I got charged 20 THB each way. The property manager was the only staff I saw and looks like he does everything himself. He was very friendly and helpful with coordinating e-bike rental, local motor taxi to the port, kayak rental etc. and he even drove me himself to the port when a car taxi was not available and I had too many bags for a motorbike.

Note to travelers: Bang Kachao is like a rural suburb, it is part of Bangkok but it is so far out of the way that normal taxi/grab/bolt are not available. I took a taxi in at the middle of the night from Riverside area BKK and felt like we were going to fall off the map and took ages to drive through rural roads across the island. I didn’t know about the ferry, I had 2 bags and it was really late so taxi was it for me. Learned that the best way is to go to the Wat Khlong Toei Nok Pier and take the ferry to Bang Kachao, then motor taxi to the hotel. The ferry is 24/7. Motor taxi has a hut/station near the pier parking area where drivers wait for rides during normal hours; they can be contacted by local phone number for rides after hours or for specific pick up. The number is on a flyer posted in the hut/station. I’m not sure how you get a car or van taxi, I saw them, but you will probably need to ask your hotel to arrange this with a local driver in advance.

Impeccably clean, looks just like the photos. Friendly staff. Very peaceful. Comfortable beds. Rooms even have big fridges 😊 And even warm tint color of the light bulbs is warm and relaxing. They thought about everything 😊
