IL GIARDINETTO di Dilyana

Wonderful stopover on the Via Francigena. Very clean and roomy enough for two with a nice shaded outdoor patio. The charming host serves a delicious breakfast.

I have been hiking in Europe for 2 months (Spain and Italy). When we walked into this place I knew it was special. I’ve stayed in 45 different locations since August and this one is the very best. The location is right on the Francigena. Can’t beat it. But even if it were off the path by miles I’d still pick this place. The room was not just clean. It was spotless. The decor was beautiful and you can tell someone put a lot of effort into making it beautiful and comfortable. The bed was the most comfortable I’ve slept in in 45 days. The owner didn’t miss a detail. I feel like we were her problem customers. We expected to arrive by 1pm and she was there to greet us. But that particular day we had rain and our hike was along a river which made us slower than we normally are. We were 45 minutes late. She left the keys for us so we could get in right away but had to come back to formally check us in. So she had to make two trips for us and I know how hard it is to manage a place like this and she made us feel so welcome. Then the following day due to heavy rains we decided not to walk but instead to taxi to our next stop. I won’t go into the long story of how we ended up getting to our next location but she went above and beyond anything we could have ever expected. We are so incredibly grateful there are just no words to describe. This place is a real gem and whether you’re visiting Rome or anywhere near I’d highly recommend staying here. It’s a quaint little town close to Rome and so much to do and see around the area. If you’re on the Francigena it’s a wonderful place to stay. Oh, and the breakfast is in unbelievably good. I will include a photo.

Lovely breakfast although the cappucino was a little cold.

Gem of an apartment. Small but comfortable, clean and very well situated (on the main street). Comfortable twin beds with extra pillows and bedding. Wonderful private outdoor space for relaxing, which makes up for the small unit. Bathroom is tiny but sufficient - Water pressure was good. Dilyana and her husband are very friendly and helpful. Dilyana made us cappucinos and laid out a great breakfast spread.

Best breakfast I had while walking the Via Francegina and also right on the trail. Lovely.

Had trouble with the key in the lock on the gate but I just walked around to the back of the room and came in that way. I always have trouble with locks and keys.

Management was thoughtful and caring.

Comfy, Management and Breakfast

Central location. Very clean. Excellent breakfast.

There was only one adapter for the electrical outlets so we could used either the fridge or the hair dryer.

This for me was the perfect stop on the Via Frangicena. Dilyana as so many others have said, is a superb host. Lovely breakfast to start the day.

Very friendly host, nice place with private garden, spotless clean, room is nicely decorated and new. Breakfast generous and tailored to guest's liking.
