Villa Bougainvillea Palheiro Village by Holiday Rental Madeira

The villa is beautiful and the living spaces are much bigger than they look in the photos. The location is great with perfect views of the sea from every room and just a short drive to Funchal. The pool is very close with plenty of loungers & parasols and was clean. The small homely touches in the villa, i.e blankets on the sofa for the chillier evenings & fans in the bedrooms were appreciated. We had a great stay and would definitely book again.

Could do with extra sleeping pillows on the beds. There were plenty of decorative cushions but only one sleeping pillow each which were very soft and thin and not very supportive so we all woke up with neck / back ache. Luckily we weren't using all of the beds so managed to use the pillows from the other rooms but some spares would be handy for people who don't have this option.

Below my review about the premise. - the house is spacious and really fit for purpose - large terrace with an amazing view. The staff that supported the stay was extremely friendly and did all she could. - the furniture outside was dated and needed replacement (this can happen at the end of a season) - nice kitchen with all the supplies you need.

Just after arrival we found out the airco was not working. This was an issue that could not be repaired. It was extra inconvenient because every night there was a party going on at another location which gave a lot of noise. For that reason we had to shut the doors resulting in an even more inconvenient bedroom. The owner gave us a fan. We have asked for a compensation because the offered solution did not resolve our inconvenience. I have asked them numerous times and in the end even got an email from customer service where I found out they claimed I was threatening them to write a bad review it I would not receive compensation. I wanted to find out how they treat their customers also with regards to problem fixing. I now know the answer after more than three months of mailing and texting. - the beds were not comfortable (no boxspring) and after some days our backs were sore. - the airco I already mentioned did not work - lots of noise outside during the evening because of the overactive entertainment program of a neighbour hotel premise. - the customer service and problem resolution of the agency and the owner is a joke. They return messages but never came to a resolution nor compensation where even customer service of booking claimed my complaint was viable. I will never book again using either this agency (HRM). They take no responsibility whatsoever to resolve issues.

location would have preferred something closer to any facilities. having to walk steep hills even to get to the shared pool was difficult for us . some of the equipment in the villa needed attention washing machine and one of the aircon units The pool bar wasn’t open either during our stay
