We very much enjoyed our short break in north Essex staying at the Mistley Thorn. The room was separate from the main hotel; it was a large suite - more than enough room for us. Nicely decorated and in good order. The breakfasts were great and the one lunch and two dinners we had were very good indeed. A full restaurant - everyone and everything worked seamlessly. Popular with the locals - always a good sign! Delicious seafood. Burger was one of the best we've had in a long time. The train station is a short walk away and the local bus stops outside the hotel. A welcoming place to stay.

Challenging stairs in the approach and within the suite we were staying in.

"Nice small hotel with pleasant rooms and good food."

Clean, quiet, nice decor. Manager friendly. Dinner was good. Good bed and bed linen.

A coffee machine in the room and fresh milk would have been nice. Extractor fan in the bathroom v noisy.

"A lovely place for a weekend break"
