Emerald Home Stay

Wij hadden met ons gezin met twee kinderen (17 en 19) twee kamers geboekt. We werden erg vriendelijk ontvangen. De gastheer is erg behulpzaam. Bij aankomst werden direct twee tuktuks geregeld voor een rondrit in de heilige stad. De kamers zijn ruim en schoon.

Helemaal niets.

Emerald Homestay exceeded our expectations …. Recently built and very modern! We received a very friendly welcome upon arrival and were served a welcome drink and some delicious homemade biscuits. The rooms are upstairs from the owners residence and have electronic card swipe security. The room itself is large, very well appointed with an ensuite bathroom, a sensational bed and a large screen television. The lovely host cooked us dinner upon request at an extra charge and it was plentiful and absolutely delicious! The next morning we were served an equally sensational breakfast at no charge. We thoroughly recommend this property and could not fault anything!

Room was nice, spacious and clean. The host and his wife were super kind. They picked us up from airport and organized a driver to see the sacred city and Mihintale (Ask for Jana +94715663033 - He drove us with his Tuk Tuk to the main spots and gave us some interesting facts) A highlight was also the food. Homemade Sri Lankan dishes for breakfast and dinner. We would love to come back!

The hosts were incredibly kind people. They helped arrange day excursions for us, cooked us a really nice meal, helped us with any problems. The room was great and really clean.

The door handle to enter room needs fixing to make it easier to enter or leave the room. Otherwise, no complaints!

Deze homestay was geweldig. Heerlijke bedden, heerlijke douche met warm water, goed werkende airco en bovenal een geweldige gastheer en gastvrouw. Zij hebben ons met heel veel liefde ontvangen en verzorgd. Ook hebben ze een hele goede gids voor ons geregeld voor een tour langs de verschillende tempels.

Alles was goed.

Comfortable bed, a big TV with cable but limited channels (you can request a channel if you want), powerful AC, balcony, and a decent sized washroom. WiFi is fast & reliable for browsing & chats/calls. The property is located in an alley (wide enough for cars & tuktuks), about 600 meters from New Town Bus Station. The lovely hosts live downstairs and there’s a separate entry to the rooms on the first floor. It’s a modern & super comfortable space managed by a well-mannered & cultured family. They really go the distance when it comes to helping you, there is a genuine concern regarding your comfort & sincere effort is put into addressing your needs. I mean it was my best experience in Sri Lanka in 30 days and I stayed in over a dozen highly rated hotels & home-stays. I strongly recommend staying here. Seriously, don’t look any further when in Anuradhapura.

A floor wiper and an air freshener in the washroom is always good to have. Some webs and dust here and there but that’s probably because it was off season and mine was an urgent booking and I reached there right away, completely understandable, just providing some feedback from my side.

Eine außergewöhnlich liebenswerte Familie als Gastgeber, sehr freundliche und zuvorkommende Menschen. Sehr großzügiges Zimmer mit einer fabelhaften Air Condition und sehr bequemen Betten. Badezimmer modern mit allen Annehmlichkeiten. Lage perfekt in der New Town, aber ruhig. Das Frühstück ist fantastisch und auch das Dinner bei der Familie sollte man sich gönnen, sehr üppig und lecker. Ein großes Dankeschön an unsere lieben Gastgeber. Mehr Gastfreundschaft kann man nicht erleben.

The family went out of their way to be helpful and to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Their home is new and the rooms are large with high ceilings. The bathroom was modern and also large. The food for breakfast and dinner was great with many different dishes. The accommodation is down a small lane and our driver had difficulty getting there. However, a phone call to the hosts enabled them to guide him to their house. Do yourself a favour and stay here when you visit Anuadhapura.

Wow. We can’t say enough about this amazing hotel, family and experience. After traveling for awhile and having some not so great experiences in the surrounding area, we found this gem. First off it’s new and modern with great air conditioner, a hot shower and an extremely comfortable bed. The family who owns and runs it is incredible and was always there with a snack and even offered us some rides when needed. And their cooking is exceptional. Truly some of the sweetest people we’ve met on our travels. Do yourself a favor and stay here. A lot of other spots are old and have problems whereas Emerald Homestay was just excellent all around.
