Iya Kankou Ryokan

This is such a lovely inn run by a wonderful family. They kindly prepared vegan dinner and breakfast for us. We had a very relaxing stay and loved waking up to the sound of the river.

If you are looking for 4 or 5 star luxury accommodation Iya Kankou Ryokan is not for you. However, if you are looking for a welcoming comfortable guest house with beautiful traditional meals and a wonderful hostess, this is the place for you. Yes, the stairs are steep (we were on the 3rd floor), yes, that facilities are shared not ensuite, but Bee San is a treasure and her hospitality is superb. Assisted by her son, - a chef, the meals are traditional, very tasty and very reasonably priced, as is the ryokan. Bee San has some English and s very helpful. The location, 5 min walk from the Vine Bridge and 8 min walk to the bus station and tourist centre is supurb.

The stairs are steep, but you just need to be careful and its helpful to have smallish suitcases.

La experiencia completa es maravillosa el lugar es increíble, las instalaciones muy tradicionales, el baño, las camas, la mesita, la ropa, todo!! El personal es muy amoroso y la señora que cocina es muy tierna y cocina delicioso la comida es realmente buena y las porciones grandes! Una real delicia, volveríamos felices.

Kazu and Mother and Grandmother made us feel very welcome, after we arrived wet, dirty and tired after arriving by bike. They graciously accommodated my wife's gluten allergy, and the food was delicous.

The shared bathroom was an adjustment, but was not a problem. It just added to the experience.

Superbe petit ryokan. Parking gratuit devant l’établissement. La grand mère tient la maison et vous accueille avec gentillesse. Les repas et petits déjeuners sont très bon, de style traditionnel. La chambre est simple, en tatami avec futons. C’est un vieux ryokan, je vous attendez pas à des équipements très moderne. Mais c’est ce qui fait le charme de l’établissement ! Il est situé à 5mn à pied d’un des célèbre ponts en lianes de la vallée. Il y a des bons de réduction pour aller à l’onsen d’un hôtel voisin, expérience à faire ! Un super séjour à un prix très raisonnable dans la vallée de l’Iya.

Maison d'hôtes situées au milieu de la vallée d'Iya, accessible en bus. Chambres confortables. La baignoire partagée permet de prendre un bain chaud. Petit déjeuner et dîner simples mais bons. Personnel accueillant.
