U STAY MyeongDong

The things we liked were the location and the easy availability of snacks (Korean noodles) and coffee/tea at the clean kitchen counter. We also appreciated the availability of umbrellas, as it rained during our stay, and we liked the easy checkout process.

The room was too small for a family of four, making it difficult to move around comfortably. The bathroom was also quite cramped. Additionally, every time we entered the elevator, there was an unpleasant odor, likely due to the restaurant located beneath our room.

The location! The location are the best, once you out from hotel, u r ready to shop around myeong-dong area, u can shop till last min and till you drop!

The room too small for 2 person who are heavy shoppers :D

Location is TOP - right in the heart of Myeongdong with different subway stations and bus stops (including airport buses) within easy walking distance. Like most small hotels in Myeongdong, this is a semi self-service concept hotel without a 24 hour reception, but it is very well equipped and setup for travelers to manage on their own. The self check-in and check-out kiosk is super easy and fast to use: took literally seconds to check in and out. There are really convenient features for travelers even before/after check-in or out - there is a locked/self-service luggage storage area so you can leave your luggage before and/or after check in/out even if no staff are there, and a common washroom with a shower which was unexpected. The common kitchen lounge area is really helpful for longer term guests to have a simple meal in the comfort of the hotel. The room itself is also very comfortable (bed is great, nice towels, room size decent, being able to control the lighting with a remote control is super handy, piping hot shower), lots of sockets, and being able to request light daily cleaning is also fantastic.

My only feedback would be to install more hanging features/hooks and possibly even a fold down table/shelf with an additional folding chair if possible in the room. We were two people and really struggled to find anywhere in the room to hang or place things except on the floor, and were literally living out of our suitcase for 5 days because there was nowhere to put anything at all. There is one stool in the room which we ended up using as a small table. This is really minor - we enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely recommend U Stay Myeongsong! Just some feedback that would potentially make this stay even more comfortable for guests.  

Very good location

Location is perfect. We arrived at past 1 AM, and there were still open stores by the hotel and open restaurant at the hotel. Pretty safe! The self check-in kiosk was very easy to use. It probably took 10 seconds to check in and get my room key cards. The room was tiny but enough for two persons. There’s a fridge and a table with mirror. There were two closet hooks on the wall but no closet. However, there was enough space under the bed for our luggages and extra spaces by the window and beside the bed for our smaller bags & personal things. Bathroom was tiny but it worked for us, I just think it will be tricky for very tall guests. There’s a cool kitchen where we made free ramens, coffee, etc. They also had extras in the kitchen where we could help ourselves to free cold bottled water, trash bags, room supplies, etc Guests could also use the fridge and freezer by marking their food with their room numbers. There were several bar stools to sit on while eating at the bar table. The kitchen is a step away from our bedroom door so it was very convenient. There was even a weighing scale and a vacuum near our door in case we needed them. It was lively outside but we slept well on the 6th floor . Room was dark when lights were off so we had undisturbed sleep even though we’d wake up around 11 am. After check out, our luggages were stowed for us while we shopped outside. For the price I paid, I wasn’t expecting how they made everything so convenient for the guests. Front desk and cleaning staff were lovely, too. We’re definitely going back to this hotel.

This location is insane! Snugged right between a thousand shops and street food stalls, I felt I could have the entire Korean experience just feeding and shopping in my very own neighborhood! The Luft Cafe across from here serves the most amazing LAVENDER coffee that I couldn't stop buying even though I'm not a coffee drinker at all. The hotel manager is such a soft-spoken gentleman. He allows me to leave my luggage in the secure area before check-in time, as well as after check-out. So I get to enjoy Myeongdong central a little more before my flight without having to haul my 2 luggage bags around. Self check-in system is very advanced, high tech throughout, even has a Ramen cooking machine for 3 different noodles. Provides fresh, filtered drinking water in hot or cold. Free coffee and teas. Soft beds, quiet air conditioning, quality toiletries. I stayed in Hongdae and Gwangjang Market areas prior to this, U Stay far surpasses the other two. I had one night stay at Novotel in Gangnam. Apart from a bigger room space, and a grander lobby, it can't even compare to U Stay! I'll not live anywhere else if I visit Seoul again.

It'd be a sin to complain about a place like this!

Very central and close to metro and bus. Free water, coffee and tea, as well as instant ramen. Early check in was possible and the windows are soundproof, so you don't hear the noise from the street at night. The beds were comfortable and the people working in the hotel always friendly and helpful!

The doors of the rooms are close to the kitchen area, so in the morning and evening you sometimes hear noise from other guests preparing drinks or food. From midnight until 6 in the morning it's not allowed to use the kitchen, so you can sleep without being disturbed during that time. Overall we had a pleasant stay in this hotel and would recommend it!

Nice and clean, good size room and nice bathroom, staff were lovely.

Is noisey with the stores below but not horrible, and it’s what you get for the great location! They supply ear plugs if you need.

The staff service was good, amenities for its size were very handy (all the toiletries you need), ramen and tea were available, and the room was really clean. For its location, I expected it to be noisy but the double glass windows really block the noise. The room is really small - barely any space a big suitcase in the twin room - but if you don't mind it and just need a place to sleep and stow your stuff on a budget, this place could totally work for you.

Nothing really. Some people have commented on the inconvenience of the shower stall being part of the bathroom, but if you have used traditional Asian washrooms, this shouldn't be a surprise.

The location is very convenient even if this means some drawbacks. Staff was friendly and the check in process was very easy.

The drawback of such a central location is noise. And while some outside noise was coming in, the noise from inside was the bigger problem. Still that only bothered me one night. Not really a problem, but I was alone and wanted a double bed, but I also got a third single bed that I didn't need.
