Mama Cottage Ella

- Walking distance to the main part of Ella up a steep hill - Bedroom was clean and tidy and bed was comfy with a mosquito net. - Nice outside patio where breakfast was served. - Breakfast was basic - eggs and tea. - Laundry was possible next door at another Guesthouse owned by Mama’s daughter. - Accomodation was cheap compared to others we stayed at so I guess you get what you pay for.

- There was no hot water as the hot water is solar and it was overcast and cool while we were there. It is not pleasant coming back from from a hike and trying to have a freezing cold shower. - Mama’s English is very limited and this makes it difficult to communicate even with Google Translate. Mama did try hard to make our stay comfortable. - Wifi was rubbish although Mama did bring out the Wifi router to make it a little better.

Mama’s place is a clean and peaceful spot just a short walk away from the town and main attractions. The bed is comfy, the shower is warm and Mama makes a tasty breakfast! It’s a lovely spot that I highly recommend

Only five minutes away from the main street where all the shops and cafes are.

The host was friendly but a little pushy and there were some misunderstandings concerning whether we wanted breakfast or not.

Super friendly Grandma. She took care of me like a child and cried upon me leaving. Very very very friendly.

It was all good.

Mama is an excellent cook and her breakfasts are likely to be the best thing you eat in sri lanka. I can recommend her cottage highly enough.
