HOTEL AO Kanazawa

It is a hidden jewel of Kanazawa. Walking distance to the castle and gardens. Staff … Cannot say enough good things about them. The Japanese breakfast was just exceptional. Highly recommend this hotel.

Das japanische und das westliche Frühstück waren beide sehr gut. Das Hotel liegt direkt beim Kenrokuen Garden und bei der Burg.

I cannot say enough about the Hotel AO and the staff!!! Never have I felt more welcome in any hotel, in any country I've traveled. This place is exceptional! The room was super spacious and so perfectly located near the castle, garden, as well as both the samurai and geisha districts. Hotel AO had the kindest staff of any place we stayed in Japan. 5 stars!!

A Thoughtfully Designed Boutique Stay in the Heart of Kanazawa I love boutique-sized hotels, and Hotel AO Kanazawa was the perfect fit. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and the location is central, making it easy to explore the city. The rooms are smartly laid out and tastefully designed. We initially booked the Simple Stay for 4 people—a compact, loft-style bunk bed setup that made the most of its small footprint. It was impressively well thought out and didn’t feel cramped at all. The only hiccup during our stay was that the A/C wasn’t functioning properly, which made the top bunk on the upper floor quite uncomfortable. However, as soon as we let the staff know, they were quick to respond and offered an upgrade for part of our group at a fair price. Some might argue about being charged for the switch when the issue wasn’t our fault—but honestly, the accommodations were so great, I had no complaints

What I Didn’t Like Mainly, the restaurant pricing. Breakfast was a hefty ¥3,500 per person, which felt excessive—especially for those of us who don’t eat large meals in the morning. The food was beautifully presented and tasted good, but there really should be smaller, more affordable options available. Another frustration: you’re required to reserve breakfast the day before, which isn’t always convenient when you’re on vacation and plans are fluid. At the time of booking the breakfast, there were no prices listed on the menu, which should’ve been a red flag. Feeding 4 people adds up fast, and it felt inconsistent to have such premium food pricing next to modest room rates. Sadly, after that sticker shock, we didn’t return for any other meals during our stay

Beautiful , spacious room . Nice facilities Very nice , helpful staff . In all a very good hotel . I booked this room for my daughter and her boyfriend and it was the best hotel of their stay in Japan

Absolutely spectacular! Definitely the best hotel in Kanazawa. The room, the food and, above all, the wonderful staff, was unbeatable. Every single detail was thoughtful and executed to perfection. The best place we stayed during our trip. I highly recommend trying their delicious breakfast. We can't wait to be back!!
