Posada de Tampico

Love it

My wife and I have been patronizing Posada de Tampico since the 1990's and it's been highly satisfactory in the past. The staff is very helpful and pleasant, and responsive to our needs. The Chairel restaurant is superb. We always eat there because the food and service are both excellent, and the prices are reasonable. The Maitre D', Juan Carlos, is charming (at least, if you speak Spanish). I don't, but my wife does.

On one of our two recent visits this month, we found that the coffee pot had not been cleaned from the previous customer, and the old coffee and filter in the pot had become moldy and unusable. It's only happened the one time, but since we had to rise very early to catch a plane, a good cup of coffee would have been welcome. Also, as I've gotten older (I'm now 75), my vision has faded. The lighting in the room has become completely inadequate due to the lack of lamps and overhead lights.. I don't think I can stay there again unless that problem is resolved. The hotel has become old-fashioned over the years. The bathroom space, althought clean, is now uncomfortably cramped.
