Food and room

The location, the owner, the view, the hospitality and the simplicity of the place with good amenities what i loved about the place.

There’s nothing i would say I didn’t like. As it is a homestay run by an uncle who is aged now we can’t expect hotel like services still they provided everything which was possible.

The review is a bit late because I was busy. We stayed from the 7th to the 9th of November, and it was a great homestay. The room was clean, and the view from the room was amazing — we could see Kanchenjunga, the world’s third-highest mountain. The uncle was a great person — very kind and welcoming. The only issue is that motorcycle parking feels a bit risky. It would be great if they could make a proper parking space for motorcycles, although there is CCTV for security. Also, don’t blindly trust Google Maps in the hilly areas. It’s better to first reach Darjeeling Train Station and then follow Google Maps to Veronica Homestay from there. Although it was a great stay, don’t forget to explore on foot — you’ll really enjoy walking around!

Le propriétaire est affable et disponible. La vue sur le Kanchenjunga est vraiment un enchantement mais pour en profiter, il vaut mieux monter sur le balcon fumeur. L'endroit est plutôt calme. Malgré la fête de Diwali, nous n'avons pas du tout été incommodés par le bruit. J'ai trouvé la rue peu passante.

La chambre était vraiment très humide (comme les serviettes ) et froide. Nous avions une chambre avec deux lits, l'un était bien plus confortable que l'autre. Il y a des investissements à faire pour améliorer la prestation : l'une des portes du placard (très vieux) ne tient plus que par un gond. La salle de bain est pourvu d'un chauffe-eau (merci) mais il manquait une raclette pour nettoyer le sol. Comme il faisait très froid et humide dans la chambre, nous avons pris l'option chauffage payante. Mais le chauffage fourni ne permet pas de réchauffer la pièce. Investir dans un chauffage à bain d'huile serait grandement utile. Je suis vraiment déçue de ce lieu, et j'ai vraiment du mal à comprendre les notes qui ont été attribuées.

Homely and good hospitality

The quadruple room with 2 double beds were cozy and well-maintained with wooden interior. The place had 24*7 drinking water one flight of stairs away. It was a 1.8km walk to Mall Road which seemed like an inconvenience at first but later it turned out to be the walk that we enjoyed a lot, because the roads weren't as steep as we imagined. The window offers the view of the city, and on good days, the owner says that even Kanchenjunga is visible from the balcony upstairs. The best parts of our stay were our conversations with the owner, Bijoy Rai and the special home cooked food menu he offered us. The breakfast he very sweetly got made in his kitchen was just what we were looking for after so many meals heavy outside. Overall, the stay experience was memorable.

The place could have atleast some amenities, like a kettle so we could heat water as it was very cold. Anyway there is no problem, since they had not promised this on the page also. Can't complain.

It was an exceptional Home Stay that let you feel like you're in your own Home away from your town.
