Urban Girl Hostel

The location is pretty good - it depends what your plans are in the city I suppose. We stayed here when we first arrived in Sri Lanka, and then again 6 months later before leaving Sri Lanka. The location was good for us as we were only spending one night in the city out of necessity, and there are plenty of food spots nearby. There's a nice roof terrace. On our second stay the staff were very friendly and accommodating and the place was much cleaner than the first time we stayed. It's cheap and you get what you pay for, which is why we didn't really mind staying a second time even after the first experience wasn't good.

The first time visiting one member of staff was not particularly friendly or helpful, but she wasn't there the second time we stayed. Again, the first time we stayed the property it was not very clean, but the second time it was a lot better. There is no wifi at the property and your internet will not work very well inside the building. You don't get much privacy either. They are not good with communication before arrival. We messaged on booking.com/ rang to confirm our arrival time would be okay (4am) but had no response. Obviously it worked out, we were let in when we arrived but if you have any questions don't expect a response.

Location is near shopping mall and the famous temple. It's clean. One lady was very nice but not all of them.

Staff very rude. The lady who manage the hostel asked me to pay an extra because I was talking with one the guests in the hostel. She calculated how many hours I spent in the hostel ... And forced me to leave the hostel and talk yo my friend outside. No hospitality at all..... Shower to be cleaned and no paper toilet in WC. The lady woke up at 7 am and started to wake up everyone.... Speaking loudy... Cockroach was everywhere ... Near the fridge and the WC... It's disgusting
