The Secret Garden

Location- Excellent location for stage 14 & 15 of the Pekoe Trail. It is also surrounded by beautiful sceneries.. -beautifully maintained garden - about 8 km to Bandarawela town and close to Ella too. Host- chandra and Dan- the owners, are a lovely couple .. great hosts … they live in the same compound ( separate house) and attend to all needs of yours .. we were treated with tasty meals cooked by Chandra 🩷 ( I was lucky to get the experience of cooking with her in her lovely kitchen ) Rooms were very clean Though we went in august which is the hot season in Sri Lanka , the climate was very cool. We could sleep even without fans .

Wonderful, peaceful place right on the Pekoe trail. Lovely, chatty hosts. Good food and lovely surroundings. The most expensive place we stayed in Sri Lanka

Gorgeous room overlooking a beautiful garden right on the Pekoe Trail. We had such a relaxing stay and loved the outdoor seating area as well as the comfy bed. The hosts are lovely and we enjoyed having dinner with them. Breakfast and dinner were both amazing!

Not big issues but things that other visitors should bear in mind: - Very expensive compared to other stays in Sri Lanka. The final bill had a few extra charges that weren't previously mentioned, including a service charge of $7 and a booking.com charge. Unclear what the service charge included that wasn't covered under the advertised room price - Dinner and breakfast are $6 or $7 USD pp - both delicious but just make sure you have enough cash for this. - There are three large dogs on the property. They were mostly friendly but if you're nervous around dogs this is maybe not the right place for you.

This was an exceptional find right on the Pekoe trail at Makulella. beautiful rooms, excellent dinner and breakfast with hosts Chandra and Dan. They have turned their property into a small garden paradise! Great for trail walkers. Thank you for our stay and for sharing your stories.

The hostess and her husband were very welcoming and great to spend time with. Not only do they have heaps of knowledge about the surroundings. In addition, they are also great listeners and conversationalists

If you are afraid of dogs, this place might not be for you. Though they are very kind dogs and they will for sure be put in their cage if you show any indications of being afraid of them.

Felt like home, very welcoming. Clean, comfortable room with private outdoor sitting area.

The property is the couple’s home, built by them with incredible woodwork and a spectacular garden. She has recently turned it into accommodation and clearly loves cooking for guests and sharing stories of their life.

We were quoted $56.00 by Booking.com for the room but paid $82.00. We were in a hurry to get going so I didn’t ask for a price breakdown, I’m assuming the difference is due to the meals (breakfast and dinner) which were great, but also the most expensive we’ve had here.

The hosts were amazing. We enjoyed so much their stories and amazing cuisine. One of the best curries I ate in Sri Lanka. Their garden is like paradise. Hopefully one day we will come back. Take care 🙏🏻
