Ohiya View Resort

The host was very kind and hospitable, he provided us with a nice Srí Lankan breakfast for a reasonable price and offered free tuk-tuk from the train station. The room was basic but had all the amenities and the hot water.

The photos of the room on Booking.com looked better than how it looked in reality. One of the mattresses was worn out.

The staff were very helpful. Assisted with organising a tuk tuk to visit Horton Plains National Park and offered to provide dinner and breakfast as required.

The shower was permanently dripping which resulted in dampness in both the bedroom and bathroom.

For a simple authentic experience with great management and service you should stay here. Food is cooked fresh and the manager is lovely. We stayed a night and had dinner, breakfast and lunch. Rooms are simple but with a hot shower and very quiet. The other hotels near charge a lot but seem to have less soul!

This place is very plain and rustic. It has Old power sockets in the room, so be prepared.

Really cozy homestay, with all the necessary amenities (heater, laundry services etc.) and meals provided are really good. The host was really friendly and even offered to use the iron to quick dry my pants after laundry as it could not dry in time!

A very peaceful and beautiful environment. All the facilities are there as per our needed. It is also a safe place and any one reach that place easily. The staff are very friendly. Foods also available and they prepared it deliciously for us.

Close to Ohiya train station. Sheets were clean. Water in the shower was warm, but water pressure low. Three wheeler was available for trip to Horton’s Plains. Dinner and breakfast to go is possible.

The room we had was awful: Holes in the wall, dirty and mouldy walls and ceiling. The ceiling in the room and in the central area looked as if it was about to fall apart. In the bathroom the water was leaking from under the sink making the floor constantly wet. Only one towel was provided. The three wheeler that took us to Horton’s Plains was weak and we had to get out on steeper tracks to push it. The staff spoke little English.

Beautiful location

Basic amnesties. Not clean. Food quality was particularly poor. This is after continued conversations with the owner who promised much. The caretaker is new to the business and was receptive to feedback. Hope they will do better going forward.
