New Lavan Bolgoda

Das Hotel liegt direkt am schönen Bolgodasee, sehr ruhig. Wir haben sehr gut gegessen. Das Personal war aufmerksam, ist auf unsere Wünsche eingegangen und war sehr freundlich. Auf der nachmittäglichen Bootsfahrt haben wir viele Vögel gesehen und das Personal machte uns sogar auf einen Bindenvaran, der auf einem Baum lag, aufmerksam.

The hotel is beautifully located on the banks of the Bolgoda Lake - a birdwatcher's paradise, in fact. The rooms, while basic, are very comfortable and clean, The manager Mervyn and his lieutenant Norman went out of their way to welcome us and provided one of the best breakfast spreads we've experienced in Sri Lanka.

The hotel caters to a local clientele which, during our stay, consisted mostly of groups of men enjoying drinks in the afternoon and evening, This only became a problem when the social events stretched into the late evening and night - very loud music boomed through the hotel until 3am on one of our days and made it almost impossible to get to sleep, This was compounded by a open-air venue next door - Moonlight - which also played music at a disturbingly high volume the night before. This was a pity: a venue that should have allowed us to relax into the natural beauty of the Bolgoda Lake ended up intruding on both our enjoyment and peace.
