Be Free Surfhouse

Our host was amazing and our time at the accommodation gave us a lovely taste of Morocco and surfing life! Watching the surfers in the evening from the little cafe on the head was one of the most magical moments of our trip.

It was really hard for us to find the accommodation and we ended up walking across a lot of rubbish strewn land (more instructions would have helped from the lighthouse landmark!). It wasn’t clear from booking.com that the bathroom was shared, although not a problem for as the other rooms were empty when we stayed.

Amazing location right at the sea with a great host, who knows a lot about local surf culture.

When we arrived, he told us: “I forgot that you were coming. I did not expect you, because you made reservation one month ago”. Yet, he did not forget to take his payment a few days before. Some people reserve accommodation 8 month in advance, and they expect owner to be aware of their arrival. The fridge was dirty. Each time it rained, rainwater flooded the house, which made floors slippery. We came out of bedroom, slipped and fell onto hard floor, and nearly broke elbow. The bedroom does not have "sea view": the description is completely misleading. As you can see from the attached photos, bedroom looks onto a pile of waste under the window and barren land with an electric pylon in distance. We would not have booked if we had known true description. Owner is a liar, lazy, irresponsible. After we wrote this review, the owner started to harass us by making phone incessant calls and by writing to us: "You are stupid. Ha ha ha. Do you really want to have clean accommodation for €25.20 per night? You are stupid. Go to a five-star hotel if you want to find everything clean and write reviews". Because the owner was making phone calls every minute after receiving our review, we had to block him and report him.

This property operates illegally without touristic accommodation license as required by Moroccan law. Police can shut it down and give fines to owner and Booking-com. It was obvious from so many things that owner of "Be free surfhouse" is lazy and does not care about customers. There is huge hole in ground outside his house, where guests’ cars drive and manoeuvre. Owner has not even bothered to block that huge hole by large stones. There is real risk of guests and their cars falling into that hole and being trapped until Moroccan government organise suitable equipment to lift heavy car from it — that is if guests are left alive and not severely injured. There was just boiling hot water in shower — cold water is not connected to shower! It is impossible to wash there! Guests are scalded by boiling hot water because it cannot be diluted by cold water. Obviously, he does not have licence that is required by law, because Moroccan authorities would not have given licence to accommodation that does not even have cold water supply. Owner makes no effort whatsoever to explain where his house is situated — location given on Google maps is wrong, he does not care. He does not provide diagram showing route to his house before guests arrive. He does not offer to come to N1 road to meet guests. There was significant risk of our car falling into the huge hole in darkness when we were trying to find house in that locality, which does not have roads — only in morning we discovered that when we were driving from that wrong location on Google Maps to actual house, huge hole was right in our way. Even if there was change of just 1% of our car falling into that hole, the consequence of that fall would have been grave, devastating and extremely terrifying for us. That man does not deserve praise for his laziness and neglect.

Ibrahim was nice and open as a host. He made his house our house.

We booked for 1 night but stayed 2 nights, it was a very pleasant stay. We received a great welcome and were shown all kinds of nice places. You will stay in a beautiful place, especially if you want to escape from all the tourist places, this is the perfect location. Highly recommended!

Very close to Boilers and Tamri surf spots, Ibra is a very generous and friendly host, who also knows the best places to surf and always tries to make you feel at home. The house is very removed from the town so it’s very quiet and peaceful…

It’s a bit remote but if you have a car it’s no problem to move around.

Slightly hidden away in the corner of one of the best surf spots in Morocco you’ll find Ibrahim and be free surf house. Who better to host you than a local surf expert, instructor, and generally awesome dude! At night the stars shine bright in the clear Morrocan sky and the only sound you’ll hear is the soothing crashing of the waves. Bliss. Perfect location to explore the whole coast of surf, you won’t find a better spot… guaranteed.

Dream location right on the point at boilers. Good living room and kitchen with all the basics. Ibrahim will help you with everything and lent me his surfboard!
