"Unfortunately a terrible experience"

Really poor experience. In all my travel - same for all my family members - we've never heard of a cancelation request being denied when it was due to a death in the family. However a director at Getaways, working on behalf of Olympic Village Inn, just denied my request for any reasonable credit/cancelation/partial credit of my five night stay. This is due to my dad being admitted to the ER with 2-4 days to live (failed kidneys, no dialysis). I offered documentation. I booked through Booking.com and was told the booking was nonrefundable. Understood, and in the past I've only ever heard of nonrefundable bookings being changed or refunded in extreme cases. I've never heard of a bereavement request being outright denied with no attempt at human decency. Please don't give people and businesses like this your hard-earned money.
