"A Great location and place to explore Great Langdale"

8.0

The location by the river in Elterwater was lovely. It had a secluded terrace next to the Mill Race. It was wonderful to hear the river at night and the smell of ferns took me straight back to childhood visits of the past. The proximity to the village green was convenient and we took advantage of its location to walk from the door and catch the bus back from Dungeon Gyll to the bus stop in the village, The cottage has an extremely comfortable living room to relax in the evening and a well laid out cabin kitchen with everything you need including a coffee maker. The Britannia Inn is within spitting distance if you want to eat out.

Parking was at the back of the cottage. I removed my wing mirror on reversing out. My poor driving, but also an indication that the space is tight. The 2 bedrooms were a tad small. They were immaculate and recently decorated and bright however, my son with learning difficulties locked himself in as the door handle came off. He could get out but we struggled to get in. The handle to the wardrobe door in our bedroom also came off. Not a big issue but a sign that it might be time to update the wardrobes and considering reconfiguration of the bedrooms to maximise space, We struggled to find a place for our suitcase and had to use the landing. These are very small points and overall this is a lovely cottage so don't be put off as the location is wonderful the furniture of extremely high quality,
